The Newcastle Outrigger Canoe Club is hosting the 14th Pasha Dasha regatta at Horseshoe Beach this coming Saturday 18th January, and with the weather conditions, the club is working hard to ensure the regatta can go ahead. The club has an exemption from AOCRA to paddle during a Gale Force Marine Wind Warning, but only within the harbour, and after a risk assessment of local conditions.
NOCC is negotiating with maritime/Port of Newcastle to expand the area of the event license for safe, competitive racing. We are monitoring BOM forecast and will provide further updates.

Some 300 plus paddlers from 21 clubs between Coffs Harbour and Bega have registered to compete in the regatta.
Races for individuals and teams of Minnows, Juniors to those over 70 will be held in Newcastle harbour and extend offshore. Events include sprints from 500m to 10km and 22km Long Course ‘iron’ and a team ‘changes’ race. Racing begins at 7.00 am.
(See attached program).
Many of the crews competing will be using this regatta as a warm up for the Sydney Harbour Challenge in March, States Championships (Port Stephens) in May, Nationals in May and World Marathon (Brazil) in August.
