The SES has again been kept busy overnight as the Hunter and Mid North Coast regions continue to be impacted by severe weather.

Volunteers have attended around 900 jobs over the past 24 hours and carried out 130 flood rescues, with the majority of those in the northern region.

Parts of Raymond Terrace have been warned to prepare to evacuate, while residents living around Hinton have been told to prepare to isolate due to major flooding on the Paterson River.

SES crews are putting arrangements in place to ferry essential supplies to isolated residents.

Communities north west of Melville are also being warned to prepare to isolate.

Five emergency warnings remain in place and many local roads remain closed.

The Pacific Highway is also closed near Taree in both directions.

Extra crews are heading to the town to assist with evacuations and flood rescues.

The Manning River at Taree has reached it’s highest level since 1929 at 6.3 metres and rising.

SES Northern Zone Commander Andrew Cribb says extra resources are on their way to assist.

“For those communities, we are desperately working with the local agencies and SES units to try and door knock as many of those communities as possible,” he said.

“We are expecting more [evacuation centres] to open as we see the effects of the flooding more on the Mid North Coast,” he said.
