Maitland MP and Shadow Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Sexual Assault Jenny Aitchison says a whole-of-government approach to reducing sexual assault will never happen under a Liberal-National Government.

A state-wide Sexual Assault Strategy was set for completion in 2016 before being extended until late last year, but the Strategy remains incomplete and no date has been set for its release.

Jenny Aitchison said it’s concerning the Minister for Women was unable to answer Labor’s questions about the delay.

“I think the government needs to have a very hard look at itself,” she said, “it really calls into question all the announcements they’re making over women’s policy.

“I mean, how can they decide what to prioritise if they don’t have a strategy,” she questioned.
