A man is under police guard in hospital following a lengthy pursuit through Newcastle’s inner suburbs on Wednesday night.
Officers attempted to stop a white Toyota Prado on Georgetown Road at Georgetown at about 11.00pm following reports of an earlier domestic violence incident.
The driver failed to stop and led officers on several pursuits which were terminated for safety reasons.
The Dog Unit and the Polair helicopter were also brought in to assist.
The 33-year-old man was arrested in Hunter Street Newcastle about 40 minutes later after crashing his car into at least one vehicle, a power pole and a median strip.
He’s been been taken to the Mater Hospital with minor injuries.
