291 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in NSW, two of those have been detected in the Hunter.

The two new cases in the Newcastle area including a woman in her 60’s who is linked to the known Central Coast household cases announced yesterday and a woman in her 20’s who is a household contact of a known case in Newcastle which was also announced yesterday. 

NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant says while its positive all cases are linked she is urging the community to continue coming forward for testing.

“We need those high testing rates to give us that assurance that we aren’t missing those trains of transmission,” Dr Chant said 

The new cases come as over a dozen new COVID exposure sites in the Hunter are added.
