It comes after New England MP Barnaby Joyce promoted a petition to stop the Walcha to Muswellbrook transmission line, blasting State Government representatives at a recent public consultation session.
In his speech Mr Joyce referred to wind farms as “swindle factories.”
Referring to Barnaby Joyce’s comments, Dave Layzell says he’s just being honest with his views.
“I think that’s the key thing Barnaby was saying. You can come together as much as you want, but unless you get that message across to metro areas, there will be no change in the government, no change in their position, and we will just be hurtling along towards the edge of the cliff,” he said.
“All we’re saying is that emissions reduction has to be fair. It has to be sensible and it has to provide a cheaper and better option for families.
“We all want to be able to drive down emissions to address climate change. But please, let’s not do it stupidly. Let’s not set targets, which none of us truly believe we’re going to hit anyway,” he said.
