  1. Check fire alarms every month
  2. Replace fire alarm batteries annually
  3. Clean out lint filters from your dryer
  4. Don’t leave candles unattended
  5. Heaters clear of materials and furniture
  6. Attend to cooktops and ovens
  7. Lock windows and doors when heading out
  8. Keep you location off social media
  9. Make friends with your neighbours
  10. Trim trees and clean out gutters every six months

If you live near areas that have significant bush, forest, long grass, or coastal scrub, then you need to plan ahead for the fire season. Always contact your local fire department if you or anybody is in risk of fire.
