Renowned Newcastle-born artist, John Olsen has died at the age of 95.
His works ‘Sea Sun and Five Bells’ and ‘Life Burst’ are hanging in the Newcastle Regional Art Gallery.
Mr Olsen was awarded the Archibald Prize in 2005 for his self portrait Janus Faced.
He is well known for his distinctive depictions of landscapes and nature.
One of his most well-known works is ‘Salute to 5 Bells’ which is hanging in the Sydney Opera House.
