Peter Dutton visited the Hunter today campaigning and criticising the Federal Government on cost of living.

He visited Cougar Mining Equipment with Paterson candidate Laurence Antcliff and Shortland hopeful Emma King as Labor margins thin.

He’s critiqued the Federal Government’s energy policy.

“I think it shows the Prime Minister is out of touch with where Australian families and small businesses are at the moment and I want to see businesses like this grow not shrink, I want to see them employ more people, pay more taxes and contribute to services right around the country,” he said.

Labor hit back after local media was blindsided as he landed this morning in Newcastle with a press pack from major cities.

Labor Senator Tim Ayres says it’s poor form.

“This short fleeting visit started with an attempt to lock out local Hunter media, because he doesn’t want the impact of his nuclear reactor plan to be understood by people in the Hunter, and he doesn’t want to be challenged about that,” he said.
