A young man from Speers Point is due to face court today, after allegedly leading police on a pursuit, and ramming into a number of cars in Wallsend yesterday.

At about 6:55am, police initiated a pursuit on Newcastle Road in Wallsend, when the driver of a Volkswagen Polo failed to stop for a random breath test.

Police allege the car then approached the intersection of Metcalfe and Thomas Streets, where it collided with two other vehicles and then fled the scene.

The 23-year-old male driver was arrested nearby a short time later, and was assessed at the John Hunter Hospital, before being taken to Waratah Police Station.

He’s been charged with multiple offences, including driving without a license.

The young man was refused bail and will face Newcastle Local Court today (Thursday the 26th of October).
