New details have emerged in the case of missing Newcastle man Jayden Penno-Tompsett.
The 22-year-old was travelling with friends to Cairns to celebrate the New Year when he reportedly left the group and was last seen at a service station on December 31 on the Flinders Highway in Charters Towers, about 130km outside of Townsville.

Police released CCTV images from that day and describe Jayden from Birmingham Gardens as Caucasian in appearance, 175cms tall with mousey brown hair and was last seen wearing a black singlet, navy blue board shorts and black and red thongs.
Queensland Police now say there is a possibility the 22-year-old went to a mystery property in Charters before hitchhiking his way back across the border into New South Wales.
The witness who came forward to police said the rural property is on an unsealed road with a red steel fence. Also on the property, there is reportedly a bull skull on a post near a set of yards with silver coloured fencing.
A house was visible several hundred metres from the road and the unsealed road the property is on runs off a bitumen road.
Police are urging the residents of the rural property in the area who may have helped Jayden or seen him to come forward.
Police believe he may have gone to the property on foot or in a NSW registered maroon Nissan Pulsar sedan.
Investigations are continuing.
