Two people have been taken to hospital after a house fire at Raymond Terrace.

Fire and Rescue crews from Raymond Terrace and Tarro, supported by RFS volunteers, were called to the single storey brick and tile home in Bilmark Drive at about 11.15pm on Wednesday, arriving to find smoke issuing from the house.

They managed to contain the fire to a bedroom – the rest of the house sustained smoke and water damage.

Two women aged 55 and 33 were taken to the John Hunter Hospital with smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and police will make further inquiries today (Thursday 30 May, 2024).
