Police have charged a man over armed robberies on two Lower Hunter service stations.
It’s alleged the 18-year-old robbed service stations on the Pacific Highway at Heatherbrae and the New England Highway at Maitland about an hour apart on June 7, threatening staff with what appeared to be a blood filled syringe in both incidents before escaping with cash and cigarettes.
Investigators tracked him down and arrested him on Monday afternoon.
He’s been charged with two counts of robbery armed with an offensive weapon and has been refused bail to reappear at Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 13 July, 2016.
