A government shake-up of out-of-home care has left a Cardiff-based welfare provider without a contract.
The state government ordered a review of Premier Youthworks in the wake of a Four Corners investigation into child protection providers.
The not-for-profit company employs 300 staff to care for 90 children in 3 centres, with most of those in the Hunter.
Fairfax reports Premier Youthworks was being paid between $550 and $1700 per child per day.
Children in care will be transferred to other providers.
