Hunter residents are waking up to a very chilly morning as a cold front sweeps through the region.

The temperature at Nobbys was 9.1 degrees at 5.00am on Tuesday, but the wind chill feels wore like 2.8 degrees. The coolest spot is Merriwa, where the  mercury has plunged to 3.2 degrees, which feels more like minus 2.3 degrees.

A sheep graziers warning remains current for the Hunter.

The Hunter region SES was kept busy during Monday afternoon’s wild weather.

They responded to 75 calls for help, with the worst area being Lake Macquarie, where 24 jobs were recorded.

Most of the calls were for trees and branches down and roof damage.

A cold front swept through the region just after midday with wind gusts reaching 95 kilometres per hour at 3pm.

Ausgrid restored power to 850 homes and businesses in the Metford area.
