Around 100 firefighters have worked through the night in a bid to contain a large bush fire at Lovedale.

The fire broke out at about 1.30pm on Thursday near Lovedale Road as temperatures soared into the 40’s.

The fire at one stage did threaten properties, but there are no reports of damage or injuries.

Inspector Ben Shepherd from the RFS says the fire is now at Advice Level.

“Over 260 hectares has now been burnt in that general area. Thankfully no reports of any property damage at this stage but there’s still a bit of work to do today before this fire can be declared contained, so residents in the area are likely to continue to see flames and smoke as the result of this fire as crews still work to bring it under control,” he said.
