Hunter residents and families are concerned, a controversial Dinosaur Festival event is continuing to ignore requests for refunds.
The event was originally set to happen in Wallsend in February last year, but has been postponed numerous times since, often citing COVID concerns.
It’s been postponed again until May, after an Easter date again raised concern.
The festival promises to deliver life-sized robotic dinosaurs and amusement rides for families.
Similar concerns have been raised around events in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and elsewhere.
The company maintains refunds are available, but a number of people say they haven’t heard back.
Wallsend MP Sonia Hornery is calling on the Fair Trading Minister to get involved.
She says some families have been left out of pocket of hundreds of dollars.
“The continued postponement of the Festival at Wallsend and the Festival right across Australia has made residents very sceptical about whether the event will ever actually be held,” Ms Hornery said.
“The amounts of money involved might seem small, but it is not small to a family that is already struggling to pay their bills, with the increased cost of living pressures that we all have.”
The Dinosaur Festival has been approached for comment.
