Indigo
About Indigo
All About Me and My Unique Personality: I’m a gentle, fluffy, smoochy, sweetheart. I love to get all the pats and scritches, and I’ll make biscuits on your belly and any squishy bits for ages.
I start off a little shy and can sometimes startle with sudden movements or loud noises but generally I’m pretty chill once I know my environment and house mates.
I’ve been desexed, chipped and vaccinated.
My Ideal Home: I would love a warm sunny home and humans that are relaxed and give me all the attention I deserve. They will need to keep me as an inside cat to protect the wildlife and help maintain my safety.
What is Known About My Background:I’ve moved to the coast from a cattery in Cobar and am very excited to be living in a home on the coast!
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets: I’m a little shy at first but relax once I’m familiar with my surroundings and comfortable with my humans. I haven’t met any kids or doggo’s yet but I adore the older cat I live with now. I think I’d be OK with older children and gentle dogs given patient, respectful introductions.

Patch
About Patch
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Patch is a sweet and gentle 9-year-old black and white beauty who is looking for a calm and loving home to call her own. Patch is a lovely chilled senior girl who provided companionship to an elderly lady. Her owner sadly and unexpectedly had to go into an aged care facility and was unable to take Patch with her. This is a risk many of us face and while we try and time the selection of a companion into our twilight years, sometimes events don’t align.
Patch’s soft fur, endearing personality, and heartwarming nature, she’s sure to bring comfort and companionship to whoever is lucky enough to adopt her. Patch is the perfect companion for someone who enjoys peaceful evenings at home, a good book, or a quiet movie night. She’s not a high-energy cat but instead loves the simple pleasures in life: a sunny spot by the window, gentle head pats, and your warm lap to rest.

Woody
About Woody
Breed: Irish Wolfhound x Cattle
Woody is the biggest cuddle bunny you’ll ever meet, he loves every person he meets and is the perfect companion dog.
This easy going fella loves nothing more than spending his days following you around the house. He thrives on a close connection with his people, always on the hunt for cuddles and pats. He is friendly, affectionate, and always eager to brighten up your day.
Woody is not a high energy dog and prefers lazing about the home hanging out with his humans, giving out giant hugs and leaning in for cuddles. When he does feel like a bit of exercise, he will happily join you for a stroll around the neighbourhood and play fetch in the yard, where he politely returns the ball to your hand.
Woody is toilet trained, sleeps quietly through the night in his bed, has his basics mastered with a fantastic sit, is easy to walk, and great in the car. He is also highly food motivated and very eager to please, ensuring that any further training will be made a lot easier.
Woody really is the sweetest boy, and just wants to be loved and love you in return! All he needs is a family to share it with. He is loyal, gentle, and ready to be your best friend for life. This big softy is looking for someone to cuddle, play, and make memories with. Could that be with you?
My Ideal Home: Woody’s ideal home would be with a family who can provide him with lots of love and affection and ongoing training, he would best suit someone home more often than not.
He will need to be welcomed into the family home with lots of love, and daily belly rubs. He would need to be an inside and outside dog and likes to sleep inside on his bed at night time. Woody would also need a large yard to be able to play fetch in, and secure colourbond like fencing at 1.8metres.
Woody might be big, but he is just a gentle soul looking for a cozy spot to call his own. He would love to live with a family who were used to large dogs and who can provide a home filled with love, comfortable places to nap, and people to lean on for cuddles.
What is Known About My Background: Woody was rescued from a pound, no background information is available on Woody.
Woody has had a recent vet check and his teeth, ears, and overall health is good.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets: Woody has not been around small children whilst in care but is very gentle and does not jump up. Due to his size, we would recommend that he would be suitable for older children.
While dog friendly, Woody is not suitable for off leash or dog parks. He is quite happy to walk with a calm friend and past dogs on a lead. He is not receptive to over excitable dogs in his personal space. He prefers calm older dogs of a similar size and will require a meet and greet if there are any existing dogs in the home.
Woody is not suitable for a home with cats or pocket pets.

Panda
Hi, I’m Panda and I’m pretty sure you won’t see cuter puppy eyes than mine. I’m a 4 month old male Border Collie x Kelpie puppy and I’m totally gorgeous in both looks and personality. I’m pretty easygoing and like to be near my humans, cuddling and chilling out. I don’t need heaps of exercise but I do love a good play with my foster brothers. I would like to go for longer walks and exercise more as I get older. Hopefully my new family will have another young, friendly dog for me to play with too. I love attention and am food-motivated so I’m really easy to train. I’m already fantastic at ‘sit’ and I’m learning lots of other things too. I’m good at going to the toilet outside. I’d like my new family to take me to puppy school so I can learn even more. I’ve got big paws for a puppy so I’m going to grow into a medium to large size dog. Everyone who meets me thinks I am adorable and my foster mummy is only going to part with me to the bestest family who will love me lots. Panda’s adoption fee is $700 which includes desexing when he is old enough. It also includes his first two vaccinations. Panda has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped. Panda is in foster care in Wangi Wangi, NSW. Since he is not desexed, he is only available for adoption to the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. He’ll need to be returned to one of our approved vets for desexing. This week’s cat of the week is Patch! Patch is a beautiful 9-year-old girl who is looking for her fur-ever home! She is a beautiful girl with a mostly white coat and, just like her name, she has patches of black, including a cute one under her chin.
Patch is a sweet and gentle girl who enjoys human company, especially a good scratch on the head and a good brush. She is fairly laid back and enjoys lounging around in a quiet household.
Patch has lived a wonderful life, but she was unfortunately surrendered due to her elderly owners health and having to move into an aged care unit.
As with all cats from hunter Animal Rescue, Patch will need to be adopted as an inside cat, but access to an outdoor enclosed area would be a bonus as she had this in her previous home and quite enjoyed it.
Patch is fine with children, as long as they are respectful of her and they don’t try to carry her around. She is fine with cats however would need to be able to have her own space. With that in mind, It would be preferable for her to be adopted as the only pet in the household as she is not a real fan of dogs either.
Patch’s adoption fee is $150, and with all other animals from Hunter Animal Rescue, this includes up to date vaccinations and desexing.
Milo
This adorable 10kg pocket rocket of white fluff (Spitz cross Maltese, we were told) will be an amazing addition to your family given the time, love and patience he deserves. Milo has a non shedding coat that we think will shine when it grows back after some care and good nutrition. Milo needs a patient and loving family who are understanding and dog savvy. Milo just wants to be loved and feel secure. He has already made great strides since coming into foster care and is growing in confidence with each gentle positive experience. He needs his family to continue with his training and making new experiences positive. Milo would love a backyard to play ball in, he will need to be welcomed inside with you and after using up his energy Milo enjoys a snuggle on the sofa with you. Milo’s new family will involve him in their everyday lives and understand he may need time and understanding with new and unfamiliar experiences. Milo is just starting to experience the world after a sheltered puppyhood, so you will need to actively work with him to discover his true potential, you’ll be rewarded with a loving and loyal companion. Milo has started recall training and is eager to please. He will need to continue his training and slow socialisation in his forever family. He is a sweet and gorgeous boy who has so much love to give. He needs someone who is home often so they can bond with him and spend time teaching him. Wednesday
This week’s cat of the week is Wednesday!
Unlike Wednesday Addams, This Wednesday has a unique coat with multiple colours. Her tortie coat features splashes of black, white & caramel, making her super cute and her short hair makes her grooming requirements low.
Even thought she on only 6 months old, Wednesday is full of personality! She loves to chat away, especially when she’s in the mood for some love, she knows exactly what she wants and isn’t shy about letting you kow. She is a cuddle enthusiast and will happily curl up in your lap for all of the cuddles & pats, and she will follow you around and be your own little shadow.
Wednesday is gentle, but we think she would be best suited to a home without young kids. She takes her time to warm up to new cats and she is best suited as a solo animal. She hasn’t had any encounters with dogs yet, and it’s likely that she would prefer not to have them around.
Wednesday’s adoption fee is $200 and like all other animals from HAR this includes microchiping, desexing, up-to-date vaccinations and parasite treatment.
Charlie
Meet Charlie, a beautiful and resilient 5-year-old British Bulldog, ready to find her forever family. This sweet girl has been through a lot, including a life saving surgery after her BOAS procedure took a turn for the worse. Despite it all, Charlie’s strength and sassy spirit have carried her through, and she’s made a remarkable recovery, proving just how special she truly is. Charlie would thrive as the only pet, soaking up all the love and attention in a home where she can be the star. She’s well-suited to any living arrangement a cozy apartment, as long as she gets two to three short walks each day, or a house with a small yard where she can zoom around and play. Her playful “bully nibble” might be a little much for very young children, so a family with kids aged 7 and up would be the best fit. This cuddle bug is fully house-trained and comfortable being left alone, as long as she has access to the outdoors. She’s great on a lead, loves short walks, and is happiest when her fresh food diet so important to her recovery is maintained in her new home. Like any Bulldog, Charlie is VERY funny! Charlie is ready to share her big heart, happy-go-lucky personality, and boundless affection with her forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who’s been through a lot but still has so much love to give, Charlie is your girl! Overview: • Needs to be an only dog • No cats • Children aged 7+ • Happy, sassy personality • Needs a fresh food diet • Suited for apartment living Charlie’s adoption fee is $600. She has been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas and worms. She is in foster care in Warners Bay, NSW. Beauty
As Halloween is Thursday, it’s the perfect time to discuss Beauty, Hunter Animal Rescue’s only black cat available. Did you know that black cats are the least to get adopted? Even as kittens, those with a black coat are the last and least likely to be adopted compared to all other kittens at a rate of 82%, compared to adult cats who are 1.5 years or older being adopted at a rate of only 60% 🙁. Introducing Beauty!
Beauty is a short hair, black cat who is 12 years old. Beauty may be a little shy at first, but once she comes out of her shell, you will see an affectionate and loving girl who just wants to be loved. She is the ultimate lap cat. She loves nothing more than to keep her human company, and she will thank you with her gentle purrs.
Beauty spent the first 12 years of her life in a loving home, but unfortunately her previous owner was unable to take her to their new home, she is now looking for a new place to call home. At her age, Beauty isn’t interested in the hustle and bustle of an active home. She’s ready for a quiet life filled with cozy spots to nap in, soft pats, and plenty of love from her humans. She would thrive in a home where she could be the center of attention without too much noise or activity around her. With that said, she would be suitable in a home as the only pet, she is also cat friendly, it is unknown if she is dog friendly with big dogs, but she is fine with small dogs.
Beauty‘s adoption fee is only $150, and like all other animals from Hunter Animal Rescue, this includes up to date vaccinations and desexing.
Nelly
Meet Nelly, or more affectionately known as Nelly belly. She is a larger than life enthusiastic ball of cuddles who loves just about everybody and everything – humans, dogs, toys, children – you name it, she loves it. You’ll never be without entertainment watching Nelly run around and play. Being a Great Dane x, her long legs remind you of a baby giraffe learning to run – limbs everywhere and a little bit of clumsiness. But more often than not, you can find sweet Nelly stretched out and happily dreaming on the lounge. She is super affectionate and loves to give you kisses and is content laying next to you (or on you) while watching tv. Nelly enjoys chewing on bones and stays busy for ages when given treats or food in a Kong. Arriving in care after being in a rural pound for a couple weeks, Nelly has almost mastered toilet training and is more than 90% there, however, when its raining the princess side of her comes out as she doesn’t like to get her feet wet. With a gentle reminder and some encouragement, she is happy to quickly venture out for a toilet break. Nelly is currently living with two young children aged 6 and 8 however, being a puppy she can be a bit mouthy (not aggressive or rough) so we recommend kids over 10-12 years old. She is also living with two poodle foster siblings who she gets along with great and would thrive having a fursibling in her new home. We love having this cheeky girl, but it’s time for Nelly the elephant to find her own circus. •Fun, playful and cuddly •Will grow to be a large dog (30kg +) • Must have secure 1.8m/6ft high fencing • Ongoing commitment to training, puppy school recommended • Will need to be taken to a DRN approved vet for desexing prior to being 6 months old Nelly’s adoption fee is $700 which includes her desexing when she is old enough. It also includes her first two vaccinations. She has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped. Nelly is in foster care in Newcastle area, NSW. Since she is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. She’ll need to be returned to one of our approved vets for desexing when she’s 5 to 6 months old. Whether she’s lounging by your side or playfully chasing a toy, Joelene brings warmth and love to every moment. At just over 2 years old, Joelene still has that little kitten spark with medium to high energy for playing.
Joelene loves humans, her calm and gentle nature makes her a wonderful match for families, singles, or anyone looking for a laid-back yet friendly feline. But she isn’t very keen on other animals. She is not friendly with cats or dogs, and would be suitable to a house where she is the only pet.
If you would like to meet Joelene, she is at PetQuarters Glendale, please pop in for a pat & a cuddle.
Joelene’s adoption fee is $200 and like all other animals from Hunter Animal Rescue, this includes up to date vaccinations and desexing.
Heli
Heli, a 4 month old gal looking for my forever home. My looks may confuse you and have you guessing my breed. My foster mum tells me that at times I look like I’ve had a really rough night! It’s just that I’m a Dingo mix and because I was born wild, we don’t know what my parents looked like. I think I’m kinda cute anyway! My siblings were rescued 5 weeks before I was found. I wasn’t in very good health by then but I was smart enough to approach people that then saved my life. So here I am, 5 weeks later and now 10 kilos of fun and mischief! I am curious and courageous as I introduce myself to every visitor that comes to my house. I absolutely love my siblings and also every dog that I have met hence why I need a home with another hound. I loved being cuddled and brushed. I will also follow you everywhere if you let me except when I’m busy chasing my brothers. I am crate trained and travel well in a car. I’m also pretty quiet as I dont bark. My current mum thinks I would benefit from puppy school and further socialisation in the real world. If you think you could provide me with the bestest of homes for the next 10-15 years please fill out an application for me. Love Heli ❤️ Heli’s adoption fee is $600 which includes desexing when old enough. It also includes her first two vaccinations. She has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped. Heli is in foster care in Lake Macquarie, NSW. Since she is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. Tiffany
This week’s Cat of the week is Tiffany!
Tiffany is a short hair cat who is approximately 1 year old, with a shy and gentle personality. Her coat is mostly dark grey, with a white chest & beautiful white marking on her face.
At first, Tiffany may be a little reserved, taking in her new surroundings from a quiet spot where she feels safe. Once she becomes more comfortable, she will
start seeking out your company, in particular, your lap, where she will curl up for a cozy nap, rewarding you with her beautiful purrs. Tiffany will thrive best in a calm environment, that will give her the space & patience that she needs to adjust. But once adjusted, you will see that she is the perfect companion!
Tiffany is currently at PetQuarters Belmont. Come meet her and give her the chance to become the affectionate lap cat she’s meant to be!
Tiffany will be suited to most households. She is child friendly (providing they respect her boundaries), good with other cats and should be fine around calm dogs after slow introductions. She would also suit a home where she is the only pet.
Tiffany’s adoption fee is $200 and, like all other animals from hunter Animal Rescue, includes desexing an up-to-date vaccinations. For more information, click here!
Tommy
Tommy is a very playful and loving 10 month old male Mini Fox Terrier. Tommy is typical of his breed and would love having a play friend. Tommy is going well with his house training, he is using a doggy door and will benefit from daily walks and further training. This tiny 4kg heartthrob is not a barker but will steal your heart, the rogue loves nothing more than giving you kisses and snuggling being besides you or on you. We always recommend training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training. Tommy has not been tested with cats or pocket pets. Tommy’s adoption fee is $700 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped. Tommy is in foster care in Singleton, NSW. Wynter
This week’s cat of the week is Wynter.
Wynter is a beautiful, all black, short hair girl, looking for her fur-ever home.
Wynter is full of energy and affection. She is always ready for action, whether it’s chasing after toys, exploring new corners of the house, or engaging in a game of hide and seek. When done playing, she shows her affectionate side. She loves to be close to her humans, often following you around the house and seeking out your attention. She loves to purr loudly & frequently, especially when she’s curled up next to you, making her a wonderful companion who will always be by your side, ready to share her love.
As a cat that loves humans, we think that Wynter will be fine in a home with Children. She prefers to be the only feline in the household though. She was with other cats in her previous foster home, and she is happiest when in her own space. She hasn’t met a dog nose-to-nose yet, but doesn’t seem fazed when they bark.
If you’re looking for an energetic, affectionate, and loving cat who’s happiest as the only feline in the house, Wynter is the perfect choice. Adopt Wynter, and you’ll gain a loyal, lively, and endlessly entertaining companion who will fill your home with warmth, joy, and love.
Wynter is 16 months old, her adoption fee is $200, and like all other animals from HAR, this includes desexing and up to date vaccinations. .
If you want to meet Wynter, she is at PETQuarters Morisset
Barney
Barney is a happy and brave 8 week old Mastiff x puppy looking for a family of his own. Barney’s adorable sister, Billie is also available for adoption. Barney is lots of fun with a bold nature. He likes playing with toys and exploring the world, his little tail never stops wagging. He is always happy to meet new people and immediately wins everyone over. Barney is friendly with other dogs of all sizes. He currently lives with a cat who he is very interested in, he mostly keeps his distance but we think he would do best in a home without cats. Barney has been working hard on his toilet training and while he is picking this up quickly, his new family will need to continue his toilet training. As a young dog training and socialising are important to develop into a happy and well adjusted adult dog. We recommend puppy school to kickstart training. Barney’s exact breed mix is unknown but he is expected to grow into a medium to large sized dog with medium energy. Barney is currently an inside dog and must be allowed inside in his new home. He would love another dog as a sibling but would also be ok as an only dog if his people are home more often than not. Barney’s adoption fee is $700 which includes his desexing when she is old enough. It also includes her first two vaccinations. He has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped. Barney is in foster care in East Maitland, NSW. Since he is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. She is used to being left with her foster dog siblings for 8+ hours, as long as she has toys and a bone to keep her company she does amazing outside. She is starting to sit on command, come when called and has toilet training down pat. She is expected to grow to a medium size dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training. It would be a big plus if you have a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for Rosie. If you don’t have another dog to keep her company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn’t work full time as she is still young. Rosie needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside. She will be wonderful family dog and is suitable for children 5 years and older. You need good fencing with no small gaps. She can’t go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire). We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. James
James, or as his foster mum lovingly calls him, Jimmy or Slim Jim, is a 1-year-old Cavoodle weighing 10kg, with a heart full of love and a gentle soul, just waiting for the right family to help him blossom. This sweet boy had a bit of a rough start in life, missing out on some key socialisation, so he needs a patient and understanding human to guide him through the big, wide world and show him that it’s not so scary after all. At first, James is a shy guy, but once he gets to know you, he’s all about love and affection. He’s a total cuddle bug who adores human company—he’ll happily curl up on your lap or snuggle with you in bed. In fact, James prefers to be indoors with his people, where he feels safe and loved. James would thrive in a home with another friendly dog to show him the ropes and help him feel secure. He draws a lot of confidence from his canine friends, so having a buddy is essential. While he hasn’t met any cats or pocket pets yet, he is open to the idea—as long as they’re willing to give him a chance. Loud noises and young children can be a bit too much for him, so a calm, quiet home would suit him perfectly. James’s ideal match will be someone who works from home at least part-time and has the patience to guide him gently as he continues to learn. He’s come a long way in a short time, already mastering basic commands like “sit” and toilet training using a dog door. He’s also managing walks in quieter areas, slowly building confidence and exploring the world at his own pace. James enjoys car trips and long-lasting chew treats and is still learning about toys, but with a bit of encouragement, he’s starting to find his playful side and even catches the odd bout of zoomies! Elara
This week’s cat of the week is Elara! Last week we had Bobby, Elara is his sister! Elara is a short hair, black kitten with beautiful white markings on her belly, feet & a cute white mustache! Elara is a typical, playful kitten who loves playing with her foster siblings. Elara is quite shy & reserved at first, but when she feels comfortable and starts to come out of her shell, you will find a loving companion. She enjoys her morning naps in the sunshine, chin rubs and snuggling with her foster siblings after playing.
Similar to her brother, Elara would be best suited to a fairly quiet home. She doesn’t like to be carried around, preferring to sit near you & get pats on her own terms. We don’t know if Elara is child friendly, we think her personality would suit a home with older kids or a home with adults or a retired couple. Elara gets along well with other cats, she hasn’t met any dogs yet, however we think she will be fine with the right introduction. Elara’s adoption fee is $200 and, like all of the animals at Hunter Animal Rescue, this covers desexing and up to date vet work.
Bobby
Bobby is a 9-month-old boy who is looking for his Fur-ever home.
Bobby is a typical cat. He comes across as shy at first, and takes a while to warm up to you, but after he feels comfortable, you will see that he is a lovable boy that just wants to be loved!
Bobby loves to play. He is constantly playing with the other kittens in foster care and loves to snuggle with the older cats. He loves his humans
Like all animals from Hunter Animal Rescue, Bobby comes with a 2-week trial, we recommend that you use the 2 weeks to the full extent as it will take some time for him to come out of his shell and warm up to you.
If adopted as an only cat, we think Bobby will be fine, however we believe Bobby would thrive in a house with other cats to play with, or in a home where the humans will be home a lot as he gets lonely. He hasn’t met a dog whilst in care, but we think he will be ok with a slow introduction. Bobby hasn’t met young kids and would prefer a home with either older kids, or a retired couple that will spend lots of time with him.
Bobby’s adoption fee is $200 and he is ready to find his new home straight away!
Bear
Introducing this handsome little boy called Bear. Outgoing and confident once you’ve gained his trust, Bear would love to be able to rumble with a canine sibling. His days are spent either sleeping, eating or playing chasies in and around the garden. He is very focused on his people/person, extremely affectionate and will happily follow you around most of the day. Being part Dingo the flight or fight response is strong which means he is initially cautious around new people and surroundings and shouldn’t be forced into interactions he isn’t ready for therefore we are seeking an experienced owner. We also recommend that he be leashed at all times outside of his yard. Ideally Bear would have a playmate and a large fenced yard (with 1.8m fences) to explore in. He is also prone to digging and enjoys moving soil whether for fun or to create a comfy place to nap. He travels well in a vehicle and is toilet trained. He would benefit from ongoing exposure and socialisation and possibly puppy preschool with a trainer experienced with Dingo x dogs. Bear’s adoption fee is $700 which includes desexing when he is old enough. It also includes his first two vaccinations. He has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped. Bear is in foster care in Lake Macquarie, NSW. Since he is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. He’ll need to be returned to one of our approved vets for desexing. To apply to meet Bear, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt If you have any questions, you can send an email to [email protected] You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Skye
Skye is 4 years old. She loves to spend her day sleeping in the sun, doing zoomies and playing tug o war. She is a very cuddly girl who loves a lap to sleep on or the company of another dog to snuggle with. She loves people and other dogs and will be a wonderful family dog. Her perfect home is one where she is always welcome inside with another doggy playmate. Unfortunately, young children make her very nervous however a home with older children would be just fine. Skye is a smart dog and is eager to please, especially when treats are involved. Since being in care, she has learned to sit and now helps to collect socks, taking them to the laundry for washing, in exchange for a treat of course. If you have a home that has a yard with secure fencing with a playful dog who is looking for a playmate, we would love to hear from you. Skye is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped. She is in foster care in Singleton NSW and her adoption fee is $600. Mac
Meet Mac, the 2 year old loveable Bull Arab cross goofball. “Mackie” is a gorgeous 38kg boy who is looking for his forever home. He is a smart, loving, goofy, happy boy who loves hanging out with people, playing with water, and going for walks. Mac walks very well on the lead. He is food motivated making his training easy! Mac can be a little unsure of new people but with a few treats and some patience you’ll win his heart while he steals yours! He can be dog selective while out on walks but has lived with another dog so this is definitely something that can be improved with training. Mac would love to be welcomed in a home as part of the family with access to inside and out. He would love a yard to have his zoomies and will need high fencing due to his size. Mac would prefer part time worker’s he loves to be around his people. He sleeps inside on his own bed and is quite fond of daytime naps too. Although he previous lived with another dog he was rescued with we feel Mac would be more comfortable as an only dog. This boy has got such a big personality that you can’t help but fall in love with his goofy ways. Mac is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW. His adoption fee is $400 and he is microchipped, vaccinated and desexed and treated for worms and fleas. Hart
Meet Hart, a nearly 4-year-old Beagle with a heart full of love and affection. This sweet girl is housetrained and content whether she’s indoors or outdoors, making her a flexible companion in any environment. Hart loves her walks, but like most Beagles, she is all about following scents, which can make her a bit of a leash-puller. She is reasonably well-socialised with humans and other dogs, though she may be confused when encountering dominant dogs. Because of this, her new household must be committed to her ongoing training. Hart finds cats and small pets far too interesting so a home without is a must. Hart has a bit of a watchdog instinct and will alert you if someone is nearby. Hart thrives on company and prefers to have people around for most of the day, though she can manage periods of being left alone. She would likely adapt well to various living situations, whether it’s with a family with older children, someone working from home, or even retirees. A companion dog with a gentle nature could be a great match for her, but daily outings for mental and physical stimulation will be necessary. This affectionate Beagle adores human interaction, enjoying cuddles, pats, and the positive reinforcement that comes with good behavior. Given the nature of her breed, an absolutely secure, escape-proof yard is a must. Hart is fit, healthy, and ready to bring joy to her new home. She is a true gem, and the rewards of welcoming her into your life are immeasurable if you’re willing to provide a loving home and consistent management of her manners. If you think Hart might be the perfect match for you, please reach out via email to arrange a meeting. Hart’s adoption fee is $500. She has been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas and worms. She is in foster care in Newcastle NSW. To apply to meet Hart, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt If you have any questions, you can send an email to [email protected]

Cooper
Meet Cooper, affectionately known as “Cooper the Trooper,” a resilient and lovable 12-month-old Labrastaff and Black Mouth Cur mix. Coop is a fun-loving pup who melts the hearts of those that meet him. His journey to recovery has only fuelled his infectious zest for life making him an extraordinary companion ready to find his forever home. Cooper’s life unfortunately began with a rough start. He was discovered abandoned, tied to a fence in the bush, suffering from malnourishment and burn wounds. Despite this, Coop’s spirit remained unbroken. His wounds have now healed, though his fur is still growing back in patches. He is a remarkably trusting and gentle boy, full of energy and life, and ready to share his love with a new family. Cooper’s past has not dampened his enthusiasm. He is brimming with curiosity, always ready to play and explore. Whether it’s chasing balls or chewing on toys, Cooper knows how to keep himself entertained. He’s still perfecting the art of bringing the ball back because he is distracted by simply wanting to be with his humans. This playful nature makes him an excellent companion for an active family who can keep up with his spirited antics. One of Cooper’s most endearing qualities is his love for people. Despite the neglect he faced, he is incredibly affectionate and enjoys cuddles. His loyalty is unmatched, and he forms strong bonds with those who show him kindness. He is happy to nap next to his people or sunbake in the yard when there’s no game for him to play. Cooper is also crate trained and house trained, making him a well-behaved addition to any home. Coop is a social dog who loves the company of other dogs. Don’t be alarmed if he shows his teeth (or teefies) when he sees you or other dogs—it’s just how he smiles! Coope is highly food motivated which makes training sessions enjoyable and productive, helping him learn new commands and tricks quickly. In a short time he has learned to sit, shake, wait, come and go to bed. He is also very responsive to his name and is learning more every day. Coop also enjoys his baths, making grooming a breeze. While Coop is an adaptable doggo, he does have a few specific needs. He requires a fully enclosed backyard with tall fences to keep him safe and secure during his playtime. Coop’s journey from abandonment to a happy, healthy dog is inspiring to anyone who has the pleasure of looking him in his big, puppy-dog eyes. He is looking for a family who can match his young energy, provide him with the affection he craves, and offer him a stable environment where he can thrive. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and loving companion, Cooper is ready to fill your life with joy and adventure. Are you ready to give “Cooper The Trooper” the loving home he deserves? Lana is cautious when meeting new people but is very food orientated and can be persuaded with doggy treats. Mia
The Maremma is very independent but devoted to their family. They will not abdicate pack leadership but may allow you to be equal. Always smiling they make a good companion as well as a working dog if you are happy to have a ‘gentle giant’ occasionally throwing its weight around. They are also wary of people they do not know, so do not expect them to be enthusiastic with visitors. Courtesy of Pedigree ©2024 Mars or Affiliates Still Interested? Then read on about Mia! Hey everyone, I’m Mia and I’m on the hunt for my forever home and boy I’m going to be popular! I’m only young but I have mastered going to the toilet outside, going through the doggy door as well as sit and waiting patiently for my food. I love my food, so apparently that is really helping me do lots of other things that my foster mum wants me to learn. Something about setting me up for life? I don’t jump up much, so not going on the couch or on the bed is ok by me. I sit on a mat outside the kitchen so I don’t get tripped over when they are preparing my yummy food. I might be small for my age but I am still growing. I did not get the best care before coming into DRN. So far, I am 51cm tall and 16.5kgs. I absolutely LOVE cuddles, I will bury my head in your lap when you are sitting and I will roll and flop to the floor without a care in the world, lapping up the attention. Guess what! I have a toy box and will pick my toys to play with. I haven’t mastered putting them back and I don’t think I will. I play well with my foster brothers but sometimes they get tired and I go to my crate to sleep. I love my crate it’s a happy place toys and treats. I can stay in there quietly all night long. Don’t I sound awesome? BUT I guess I should tell you some other things that you should know. Although I have not been around many other pets, the chickens are interesting but there are other things to sniff in the paddock unless one runs past me and I want a quick play, I don’t get too far as something else grabs my attention. Oh yeah, I hear things…Things that no one else can hear, even my foster brothers, I need to tell someone, so I bark, until I find something else to do. I hope you have good neighbours, he he he. Although I look like a polar bear and soooo soft and Floofy, I do need regular brushing and a wash, especially after I play in the water or mud. I just love that stuff, my foster mum says a clean freak should not apply for me. I’m not sure what that means? I also need a job to keep me busy, all I want is to look after someone by being by their side or keeping an eye on other pets or animals for you. A big yard is a must and at this stage I prefer to sleep inside but that may change as I get older or it gets warmer. I can be left alone when everyone goes out. Sometimes, I’m in my crate, but other times I’m just outside, my foster carers do a quick run around to pack away things I might find interesting like plastic plant pots or shoes. As long as you don’t mind me aerating your lawn, we could be a perfect match. What do you say? Mia’s adoption fee is $1000. She has been desexed, treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped. She is in foster care in Port Stephens area, NSW. To apply to meet Mia, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt If you have any questions, you can send an email to [email protected] You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

He enjoys getting out for a short daily walk and will accompany you on your trip to the cafe or pub. He will be your shadow, wanting to be in involved in whatever you’re doing. George could go to a home as an only dog or with another calm, older dog for company. George’s adoption fee is $400 and he is in care in the Lake Macquarie area. The adoption fee covers desexing, microchipping, vaccinations and flea/worming treatments. Nomad
Meet Nomad!
The 1 & a half year old, easy going Domestic Short Hair girl that is looking for her furever home.
Nomad is a free spirited, girl with an elegant black and white coat and piercing eyes
She enjoys her own company and values her independence, She doesn’t demand constant attention, perfectly content with her own space and enjoys her alone time, but when she does come to you, it is a sign of her trust and affection.
She’s a true explorer with a curious nature. She is often found perched on high shelves or quietly observing her surroundings from a hidden nook.
Nomad is best suited for a quiet household, she would thrive as an only pet as she doesn’t like when other cats get close to her. She hasn’t met a dog nose to nose yet and as she came from a pound, we aren’t sure if she has ever met a dog.
Nomad seems fine around humans and should be okay for older children.
She is litter trained and does’t require much grooming, making her a great addition to the household.
Nomad’s adoption fee is $200 and if you would like to meet her, she is at PetQuarters Thornton, we’re sure she would love to meet you & get a cheaky chin pat.
Lachie
Lachy is a 14 month old Cavoodle. I didn’t have the easiest of starts and I’m a shy boy. I am not fond of loud noises so am best suited to a quiet calm home. Also, I’m not a fan of children, as they are loud and I get scared by their quick movements. I am social with other dogs and would love a fur sibling at my new home. I can not be an only dog as I look for a fur friend to give me confidence. I am scared on a lead so I will need someone very patient and understanding to help build my confidence. I do bark at things I’m unsure about. I sleep with my foster mum at night and I need to be touching her. She says I’m slowly getting the hang of toilet training but the doggy door is still a bit of a challenge for me. I won’t be suited for everyone, but I look forward to finding my perfect person. I’m looking for a forever home that is quiet, loving, understanding and patient, with another fur baby for me to learn from. If you have all these qualities I might just be your man. I haven’t had much experience in the big wide world and I have had a rough start, if you give me time I will give you so much love in return. Lachy Overview – loves lounge time with my human – to be introduced to new things slowly – must have a doggie sibling – must be no children Lachy is in foster care in Bolton Point, NSW. His adoption fee is $1000, and he is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped, and has been treated for fleas and worms. Introducing Pepper, a gorgeous 6-month-old Border collie X Jack Russell terrier. Pepper is a lively and intelligent puppy with a loving nature. She is playful, curious, and always eager to learn. She is crate trained and working on housebreaking. She is friendly with children, and curious about other dogs. Pepper wasn’t socialised well as a puppy. She will do well in a home with a dog older than her, who is submissive and calm. A dog who she can learn from. When meeting new dogs, she will need a slow introduction but with the right guidance and patience should become a social butterfly in no time. Pepper is still young; she will need daily physical and mental stimulation. She is learning to walk on a lead and is excelling following her older foster fur buddy . She will be great for long walks in the future and in the meantime will need yard exercise , playtime, and interactive toys are a must. She would thrive in an active home where she can get plenty of exercise and mental engagement. Ronnie
Hello! My name is Ronnie, and I am a 1-year-old Cavoodle on the lookout for my forever home. While I might seem a bit timid and standoffish at first, I promise that once you get to know me, you’ll find I’m a loving and loyal companion. My foster parents describe me as an old soul. But don’t get me wrong—I can get the full-body wiggles and a case of the zoomies when I’m excited! Most of the time, though, I just like to sit back, observe, and take in the world around me. I’m still young and eager to learn. My toilet training is coming along well; I respond to the code word “potty” most of the time if taken out to the grass at regular intervals. I’ve had the occasional accident indoors, so a doggy door in my new home will help me continue mastering this skill. In the past four weeks, I’ve learned to sit on demand and, being quite food motivated, I’ll keep learning new tricks with someone committed to my training. I love sinking my teeth into a long-lasting tasty treat or playing fetch in the backyard. New experiences can be a bit overwhelming for me, so I need someone patient who can work at my pace and gradually show me the big wide world. I’m not a fan of car trips, my harness or my lead, so my foster mum has been taking me out in a puppy pram to help me adjust and get outdoors. I can be quite nervous when visitors come over, and I may bark and hide until I know it’s safe to come out. With some reassurance, I’m learning to take it all in stride and will continue to adapt well with ongoing training, time, and patience. It might take me 3 to 6 months to settle into my new home properly, so it needs to be a perfect fit for my needs. At night, I prefer to sleep in a room with my humans and fur friends. If allowed, I’ll happily snuggle into the human bed, but I can also settle in a cosy bed nearby if that’s the preferred option. I’m dog-friendly and need a confident canine companion (up to 18 kg) to show me the ropes. I currently live with a labradoodle and enjoy his company very much. I’ve also gone to doggy daycare a couple of times and had an absolute blast. While I haven’t met any cats or pocket pets yet, I’m open to the idea—as long as they’re willing to give me a chance. My foster parents tell me I’m the most handsome guy. Although I have a mild underbite, the vet has given me a full bill of health. My coat is non-shedding, which means I need regular brushing and grooming every 6-8 weeks to stay comfortable and look my best, so please factor this into your budget. I’d prefer a human who is possibly retired or works from home a few days per week, but I’m okay being left by myself if I have a furry friend to keep me company. I’m not a fan of loud noises or sudden movements, so a calm environment without young children would be best. In my ideal home, patience and understanding are key. It’ll take some time and effort from your side to truly connect with me, but trust me, it’ll be worth it. Ideally, my adoptive family will be based in the Newcastle area so we can have a few play dates to support my transition. Summary: • Ruby-colored male Cavoodle, weighing 11kg • Needs a quiet home with experienced loving dog owners • Desexed, vaccinated, flea and worm treated • Committed to continuing toilet training • Needs a secure yard and small dog companion • Suitable for families with children over 10 • Located in the Newcastle area preferred for a gradual adoption • Not available for interstate adoption To register your interest in adopting Ronnie you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt PLEASE NOTE: When applying for our dogs and puppies, please ensure to list the name of the dog you wish to adopt. Please do NOT just list the reference number or the microchip number as this will delay your application reaching the correct foster carer. Cheryl’s friendly nature makes her a joy to have around. She greets everyone with a soft purr and a gentle head bump, eager to make new friends and shower her family with love and affection. Cheryl is a master at creating a peaceful atmosphere, her mere presence bringing a sense of tranquility to any room she enters. Cheryl was adopted as a kitten through the RSPCA but her owner was no longer able to keep looking after her so made the regretful decision to surrender her to the pound so that she could have a fulfilling and loving life ahead of her. Cheryl should be fine with children as she has a very gentle nature.
Cheryl should be fine with calm cat savvy dogs after proper slow introductions. Cheryl gets along with other cats but tends to sit on her own most of the time.
Katniss
Katniss has been in care for a while now patiently waiting for her fur-ever home. Unfortunately black cats are the lest likely to get adopted. We don’t know why. Especially with Katniss’ beautiful nature.
Katniss is a total sweetheart. She is a sweet and playful girl who will often tries to encourage her grumpy older cat housemate to play with her, sometime successful, most times not!
She may be a little quiet and shy at first, but after she gets to know you, she will shower you with love and you will soon find that she loves a good old chat. When she’s relaxed, she enjoys attention and a tummy scratch, but only on her terms.
She can be adopted into a home as an only cat, or a home with other cats. She would best suit a quiet home with adults. She hasn’t met kids, but has met teens. She hasn’t met dogs, but with a slow and gentle introduction she should be fine with both kids & dogs.
Charlie
Charlie is a 2 year old Spaniel x Poodle (Spoodle) Charlie is one happy long legged goofball. Don’t let pictures deceive you. Charlie is slightly on the taller side of a small dog, but has the weight of a small dog. His most favourite thing to do is cuddle with his humans, closely followed by chasing balls. Charlie is dog friendly and still learning to play with his foster siblings, but is interested in joining in. Charlie would best suit someone with an active lifestyle that can take him on daily walks. Charlie is a people doggie and wants to be the centre of your world. He loves cuddling up with you. Charlie suffers separation anxiety when there is no one at home, so he would best suit a family where someone is usually home, or only alone for a couple of hours. He would love the companionship of another dog of similar size and age. Charlie does not travel well in the car, so regular road trips are not ideal. He is happy staying at home. Charlie, having long legs, has a decent ability to jump, so minimum 1.5 metre fencing is required. Charlie is toilet trained and uses the doggy door. He sleeps soundly in his carers bed all night long, at the foot of the bed, however, he is crate trained. Charlie in brief: • Dog friendly • Needs a very secure yard • Needs a family with someone usually home • Not tested on cats, bunnies’ birds etc Charlie is in foster care in Medowie, NSW and is available for adoption within NSW.
