Chuck

Chuck

Chuck is a beautiful 9.5 year old Great Dane X Mastiff. He is a gentle giant who loves nothing more than a cuddle. Chuck is looking for a loving forever home where he can spend his senior years relaxing and being spoilt! Chuck knows basic commands such as sit, stay, and lay down. He loves shaking your hand, especially when there is food involved!

Although Chuck loves to laze around in the sun, he also loves a walk! He goes for a half hour walk everyday, and would probably go further if his humans could keep up! Chuck is a big boy (at around 60kgs), so needs someone who can handle him on the lead when he gets excited for his walks.

Chuck would be best suited to a home with no young children, as he sometimes forgets his size and loves cuddling up close for a pat! He is also needing a home with no other dogs, so he can just relax and enjoy his senior years. Chuck is untested with cats and pocket pets.

Chuck would prefer someone to be home most of the time (even after lockdown). He also requires sturdy 5 foot fencing, as he is a big boy and gets excited when he sees other dogs and people outside. Currently Chuck is not house trained.

Please only apply for Chuck if you have:
– no young children (ages 10 and over)
– no other dogs
– sturdy, 5-6 foot colourbond fencing with no gaps or holes. Rural fencing will not be accepted
– someone home most of the day (including after lockdown!)

Chuck is a distinguished older gentleman who enjoys the finer things in life. He deserves a dedicated and loving home for him to enjoy his twilight years surrounded by all the love and cuddles we can award him. He would love a home where he is welcomed inside and to share the comforts of a warm and loving home. Chuck will not suit an outdoor only dog home, as we feel he deserves much better than that. Chuck is a dog who has so much love to give, and deserves a perfect forever home where he feels comfortable and loved by his humans.

Please consider your circumstances after lockdown, as we are wanting his forever home to be just that. We ask that you review your lifestyle and acknowledge the commitment it takes to bring a new dog into your home. Due to lockdown, we cannot offer interstate adoptions at this time.

For more information, please contact his foster carer Zoe at zoedrn4@gmail.com
Chuck is in foster care in Adamstown, NSW. You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

Chuck’s adoption fee is $300 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.

Jensen

Jensen

Hi, my name is Jensen, and I am a big beautiful 3-year-old greyhound.

I have been described as a loveable goofball with a giant heart.

I absolutely love attention, cuddles, and pats. I can sometimes forget my size and will try to sit in between my foster parents in bed for extra cuddles at night which they think is very cute.

At nighttime I sleep in a dog bed inside with 3 other Greyhounds who I get along great with. In the morning and throughout the day I like to stretch out and sunbake outside.

I love to play. I like to do zoomies in the back yard, play fetch and play with all my toys. I will normally engage in playtime once or twice a day for 10-15 minutes.

I get very excited when the leads are brought out for walk time. I will need a confident person who is able to handle my size whilst walking as I can find all the sights and smells very interesting. I also get very animated when I see small or fluffy animals; so, I will need to be kept on the leash. I also love to run. My foster dad takes me for a 2km run a few days a week.

I love my food. I will let the humans know if they are late for breakfast or dinner by “talking” to them. I have been fed separately from the others during mealtimes so I can take my time enjoying my food. I also love getting treats and will keep myself entertained with various food puzzles and food filled toys.

I am great with my toilet training. I will wait to be let into the yard when I need to go. I can usually hold on for 4-6 hours if I am home alone.

I am best suited as an indoor dog with access to the backyard for an active individual or family who are willing to give me the exercise, love, and affection I need.

I would love to go to a family who has a dog my size or larger who will play with me and keep me company. Due to my size, I would be best suited to a family with kids 12+ who will not be knocked over when I lean into them for pats.

My new family must have no small dogs, cats, or pocket pets.

To register your interest in adopting Jensen you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt or for more information please contact Vanessa at vanessa.garvin@hotmail.com

Jensen’s adoption fee is $350. Jensen is currently in foster care in Raymond Terrace NSW. Jensen is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated, and he’s been treated for fleas and worms.

Yogi

Yogi Bear

About Yogi 🐶 Cocker Spaniel, 2yo boy

Yogi is a 2yo, purebred Cocker Spaniel 🐾. He is a very affectionate young boy who wants to be inside with his family as much as possible. He is a great cuddler and loves to snuggle up with you on the couch. 💝

Yogi Bear likes things to chew, especially bones 🦴 and squeaky stuffed toys. He isn’t a nuisance barker. He loves going for walks. I take him for a 20 to 30-minute walk in the morning and the afternoon and he is happy to hang out with you the rest of the time. He needs to have a grassy yard to explore so he isn’t suited to apartment or villa living. 🏡

Yogi didn’t have any training before coming into foster carer, other than “sit”. I’ve been working with him and I’m very impressed at how eager he is to learn and work with me. I’m teaching him to lie down, stay, come and walk on lead and he is learning very quickly. He is an absolute joy to teach.

Yogi is very much an inside boy. He is housetrained and can use a doggy door.

He is fine left at home alone inside for a few hours at a time but not all day. So, we’re looking for a home where there is someone home most of the time (no full-time workers).

Yogi has a beautiful, soft coat which requires some maintenance. 🐶 His coat sheds and needs daily brushing, regular bathing and occasional clipping to maintain the typical cocker spaniel appearance. He is small for his breed and weighs approximately 10kgs.

Yogi is very good with children but he isn’t suited to a busy household with children under 16. He likes small visitors, but might jump on them. He hasn’t been tested with cats. Yogi is good with other dogs and could live with another dog, so long as they’re not jealous of Yogi getting lots of attention.

Yogi was surrendered to Dog Rescue Newcastle because his family didn’t have enough time for him. His birthday is 13/09/2019, so he’ll be two in a few weeks. He is a young, active and healthy little boy.

✅Summary. Yogi is seeking a home with:
* A couple or single person with lots of time to give him attention and training.
* Ideal age range would be between 40 and 65 years old.
* No children under 16.
* No other dog or just one placid dog.
* Grassy backyard (no apartments or villas).
* Can provide a daily walk and mental stimulation (training, toys, etc).
* Someone who is home a lot, who will make him a big part of their lives; to love him, play with him, train him, and snuggle with him. 🌺

Yogi is in foster care in Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle). ⭐️He is available for adoption within NSW, but not to Sydney due to the COVID-19 situation. Yogi’s adoption fee is $800 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms, vet checked, and microchipped.

👉 If you would like Yogi to be your loyal companion, we need you to please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

Lucky

Lucky

Meet loveable Lucky. Lucky is a 7 month old Maremma. He is a very relaxed, happy, friendly and sweet big boy who will melt your heart with his gorgeous smile. He loves children, adults and animals. He is looking for his forever home.

Lucky is a livestock guardian dog and although these dogs can do great in a suburban environment, they thrive in a rural environment with stock to protect. He is very typical of a rural Maremma and is only suitable for a rural property. He is currently in foster care with 4 other Maremmas, a Border Collie, and a Kelpie, and he gets along fine with them and would prefer not to be alone. He is currently resource guarding the food, but we are working on this with him, and he is improving every day.

Lucky has been introduced to sheep, chickens, ducks, geese and horses. Although he is still very young, he is showing positive guardian traits. In time he will be a great asset to your livestock guardian crew. He is standoffish until he gets to know you, then he’s there beside you for cuddles and hugs, or just to walk with you. He is happy to sleep either outdoors or indoors. He’s really good on a lead and enjoys walks. As with any young Maremma, he needs to be in a securely fenced area until he is old enough to stay with his stock.

Lucky is a very typical Maremma, so please do not apply if you do not know the breed, and please be aware that he will not be able to go to a home where the yard is a typical suburban block, as this is not at all enough for a working dog. If Lucky sounds like your pawfect match, please fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt or for more information please contact Kristy at kri201@hotmail.com

Lucky’s adoption fee is $700. He is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and been treated for fleas and worms. Lucky currently lives in Eagleton NSW

Maxxi

Maxxi

Maxxi is an 11 month old, male, German Short Haired Pointer X. He is an adventurous, active bundle of fun. Maxxi enjoys off-leash activity preferably twice per day and loves introducing himself to any human or dog that he sees.

Maxxi is well trained and sits when asked and is great on a lead. He is also house trained and is great in the house when humans are with him. He is a very strong dog and requires a confident person to guide him. Once Maxxi has had his morning gallop, he loves nothing more than lounging and being a couch potato until someone picks up the lead again. He is happiest when out in the open and exploring and would love a family with a large backyard.

Maxxi’s love for human’s is also a bit of a issue. Maxxi does get quite anxious when not sitting with (or on) his human counterpart and can get upset when he cannot see his humans. He would be suited to a home where someone is at home working and his anxiety would be lessened if there was another dog for company.

Maxxi is an adorable dog and still in his puppy phase. He would really love to have a dog friend to share in the fun.

Maxxi is an assisted adoption and will stay with his owner until his new home is found. His new family will need to be experienced with this breed and be prepared to cater for his high energy needs. He will not be suitable for a home with young children due to his boisterous, protective nature. He is also best suited to a home without cats or birds.

If you would like any more information please email wendygermon@yahoo.com.au or complete an adoption application. Maxxi is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Maxxi is located in Newcastle, NSW. His adoption fee is $500 and all his vet work is up to date.

Tiny and Tilly

Tiny & Tilly

Meet the gorgeous Tiny and Tilly. They are a super cute pair of poochies who are searching for their forever homes. Tiny and Tilly are Foxy and Mini Foxy who are 12years young. This super vibrant pair of pups have been living it up with our amazing foster carers, who now believe its their time to shine and find their pawfect forever home.

Tiny (male) is the super cute chestnut and white fellow with those “fall in love with me” eyes. This little guy absolutely loves people and will want to be your best friend the second he meets you. He certainly enjoys the finer things in life and absolutely loves his walks and outings as well as lounging in the sun napping the days away. Tiny is fully house trained and is an inside dog.

Tilly (female) is the darker brown and white pooch shown in the photos. Due to her size and nickname (Mini), she can take a little longer too warm to people and dogs as well. Like Tiny, she enjoys short walks, lying in the sun during the day, and lying on the lounge in the evenings. Tilly is also toilet trained and is an inside dog. Both Tiny and Tilly are very independent and can be left alone throughout the day. The most exciting part of the day is coming home to this gorgeous pair as they make you feel as though youve been gone for years!

Being predominantly inside dogs throughout their lives, homes that follow this way of life will be highly desireable. Although being inside dogs, its important that they have a space outside also to enjoy the sun and laze about, so only homes with a secure fenced yard will be considered. Being slightly older, we would also prefer a home with slightly older dog savvy children 10yrs and over.

Tiny and Tilly have been exposed to cats and do not seem phased by their presence. We would encourage slow and steady introductions to allow both parties time to settle and introduce properly. Both Tiny and Tilly get along with other dogs well, so would suit a home with another dog already living within the home. We will conduct a meet and greet prior to adoption to ensure friendships are made in a positive and encouraging manner.

For more information please contact Troy on troyvod@gmail.com
Tiny and Tilly are currently in foster care in Kurri Kurri NSW (west of Newcastle NSW). To apply to adopt Tiny and Tilly, please complete the application here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

Tiny and Tilly are being listed as a bonded pair and will not be seperated at this stage. Their adoption fee is $750 and includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping. They have been treated for fleas and worms.

Nova

Nova

Nova is a 5 year old Staffy x Kelpie. She absolutely adores her humans. There is no such thing as too many cuddles for this girl! Nova has a very loving and affectionate personality. She also loves little people and playing with her furry sister. As common for her breed, Nova has some anxiety problems. But don’t panic! Nova is quite happy as long as she has company – who can judge her. For this reason it is essential, that Nova’s forever home has a friend for her, preferably her own size. In her perfect home, her humans are at home with her most of the time to spend loving time with her bonding and playing. Her perfect humans would be especially interested in getting to know her and how to best manage her anxiety, as with the right tools, anxiety can be worked on.

Nova has had basic training and has very good manners, but we are looking for a home with dedicated owners to continue ongoing training. She is a clever and affectionate girl, so we are sure she would learn fast. Nova is looking for a home where she is welcome inside and is treated as part of the family. She also won’t mind human siblings, and loves to play with her current foster family’s children. She won’t be suited to a home with cats or pocket pets.

In summary, Nova is looking for a home where she is treated like a family member who are willing to give her another chance. She would be best suited to a family with another dog who have experience with or are open about learning about anxiety and positive reinforcement training. It’s important to note that with all new dogs entering a new family and environment that they require some time to settle and adjust to their new surroundings. We suggest spending the first couple of months bonding with Nova and honing in on those amazing personality traits that make her so amazing. Once this is perfected, it’s time to show her the surrounding world. She will love the time being spent with her and this will allow her the best chances at being the best doggo she can be.

To register your interest in adopting Nova, you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt or for more information please contact Charlotte at charlotte96.drn@gmail.com Nova’s adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and she’s been treated for fleas and worms. Nova currently lives in Medowie NSW and is available to approved interstate adoption.

Pixie

Pixie

Meet Pixie – a 2 year old Mini Aussie Shepherd. She is on the tiny side at 8kg and very sweet. Pixie loves to stomp around the house collecting socks and toys. She is crate trained and toilet trained. Pixie needs a home with women (adults) only. Pixie does not do well with men and children as she is quite scared of both, and a household with men and small children will not be considered.

Pixie does well with medium and large dogs. Pixie does not do well with cats or small dogs as she can get a little bossy.Pixie has been returned to DRN for the above reasons of suitability, and therefore unfortunately homes with the above can’t be considered for adoption. Enquiries or applications which include men or small children will unfortunately not be answered to and will not be taken further in the process. Pixie is a stunning girl, and very popular with families, however we must outline these very specific requirements for her benefit. We do so in her best interest.

Stanley

Stanley

Mr Stanley is waiting for his pawfect forever home to come and sweep him off his feet. This devoted and handsome young man wants nothing more than to share all his big gorgeous love with you. Are you missing a Stanley sized hole in your life? Meet Stanley a 4-year-old Male boxer. Stanley is the gentlest soul. He loves chilling whether it be inside or outside as long as he is with his family doing what they are doing or close by sitting on his bed watching.

His favourite is relaxing by the warm firepit with his family. He must be included in activities, he will definitely need a home where he is allowed inside. He loves all humans and loves to cuddle and snuggle as much as possible. He is very sweet boy and just wants to be loved, feel safe and to show his love to his forever family. He is sensitive boy and not very confident, so he needs a patient, gentle relaxed home. Stanley is suited as an only dog in an experienced dog owner home, so he can be the centre of attention and build his confidence and trust back up.

Stanley has recently undergone emergency surgery after being surrendered, due to lack of appropriate care, he suffers from Solar Dermatitis on his belly and will need a responsible owner who can treat as recommended by their vet, limit sun exposure, apply dog friendly sunscreen before heading into the sun and regular baths to maintain hygiene with gentle shampoos and conditioners as vet recommended.
Stanley is currently untested with children and other pets of any size, for this reason he would be suited to adult only home with no other pets. Stanley is very good with basic commands, sit, stay, and eat. Being an excited boxer may need to be supervised and possibly on a lead inside initially while learning the rules of his new home. Being a boxer Stanley molts quite a bit, so you must be willing to deal with this.

Stanley originated from acreage, so on walks he gets very easily excited and will pull on lead as he has never be taught. Even though Stanley’s training is progressing well he will need a strong person to walk him. Stanley is reactive to humans and other dogs on lead when he is out for a walk, he will pull and bark, but he has not shown any aggression, just overly excited to get to them and say hello. Stanley will require ongoing training and commitment to improve his lead manners and socialisation skills. You must be a patient dog experienced person who can calm his over excited behaviour in a positive way. Stanley has no recall due to getting over excited, so will need to be on lead 100% of the time when out of his yard/ home.
Please only apply if you can commit to giving him a loving dedicated forever home where he is part of the family and treasured because he so deserves it.

To register your interest in adopting Stanley, you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt he is currently in foster care in Wangi Wangi, Lake Macquarie and his adoption fee is $500 and this includes desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and microchipping.

Please contact Jen at grimjen@outlook.com if you have any questions.

Angie

Angie

Angie is a bubbly 5yr old female English Staffy X Mini Foxy. She is a black and white dog of a smaller stature. Angie weighs about 14 kg so is on the smaller side of being a medium dog. Angie is a very lively and active dog so is best suited to a family with children over 12. She will need a family committed to her ongoing training. Angie has basic commands in place, needing guidance with her excitability. This family will be adored by Angie. She thrives on the company of people and will follow you around.

Angie was very well toilet trained when she came into care. She has still not had any accidents inside the house. Being allowed inside with the family is very important for Angie. She enjoys playing with toys however if there are pats available, she will choose those over the toy! Angie would be more appropriate as an only dog although a calm male dog companion may work. Angie tends to clash with female dogs. Angie walks well on the lead and is OK when she sees other dogs out in public. A daily walk would enable Angie to expel the extra energy she has like most young foxy breeds. She does tend to walk with a bit of speed.

Angie is fine outside during the day with toys and a fresh bone to keep her mind engaged. She’s not good with cats so making sure you have a yard she can’t see out of is important. Angie loves to chill out with the family on the lounge and be included in family activities when you are home.

Angie is in foster care in Wallsend, NSW (Lake Macquarie). For more information or to meet
Angie, please contact Jaime by email jaihol@bigpond.com and submit an online application.

To register your interest in adopting Angie, you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

Chuck

https://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/856385?utm_medium=card_link&utm_source=feed&utm_campaign=https://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/

Meet Chuck! Chuck is a 5 month old Cattle dog x Staffy. My foster mumma says I’m the sweetest boy! She’s probably right, I’ve really nailed the puppy dog eyes and head tilt thing and have you seen these ears? Chuck lives with two foster sisters who are cats!! I really like them but sometimes I get a bit excited and try to round them up and maybe chase them but I’m only playing. I like to play with my dog mates too I’m a bit nervous when I first meet them but then it’s all rough and tumble, super fun.

My foster mum is teaching me to play fetch and I’m pretty good I bring the ball back and everything! I like to go for walks but I’m easily distracted and still learning, walking in a straight line is tough sometimes but I always hear I’m the goodest boy so I must be getting it right most of the time. I like to sleep in my crate in my foster mummas room and I snuggle in all night. I need a home that’s going to help me with my ongoing training, confidence and socialisation (that’s what mumma says). I like to be with my family and I worry at first when you leave me but after a while I just play with my toys. Foster mumma leaves me games to play and I’m really clever at them.

I’m living in Glendale at the moment but I can’t wait to move in with you. If you want to talk to my foster mumma Kerry about me you need to fill in the application form and send it to her emails kbfosterapps@gmail.com

To register your interest in adopting Chuck, you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

Chuck’s adoption fee is $600. He has had all up to date vet work done, is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and wormed. His adoption fee covers all up to date necessary vet work and microchipping costs.

Prudence

Prudence

Prudence is a 9 week old beautiful tan with a blackface Mastiff x, female pup who is available for adoption. She is a friendly natured, sweet loving girl. Both her and her sister Scarlett (pictured here and who is also up for adoption) have been quiet pups with easy going personalities. She gets on well with other dogs and is use to both inside and outside environments in which to run and play in so will need access to both of these with her new home.

Prudence loves company, cuddles and tug of war games with her sister but will quite happily snuggle up on your lap also, she loves her outside environment so please NO appartments or courtyard applications as she will be a medium to large dog so will need plenty of space.

We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All puppies will need plenty of affection, exercise, and training to ensure proper boundaries and routines are established. This will ensure that you get the best family member/friend possible.

Prudence would like a companion dog to go home with but is open to someone that made play dates or park visits if there is not already a dog at home. If there was no companion then a family that is home more often that not would be preferable. She really loves her toys and plays with them and her sister that she is in care with a lot, a little sandpit to dig would also be wonderful as the one they have now they love. She is currently living with other foster dogs and puppies so is use to having friends to play with.

Prudence needs to be welcomed inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. She will be a wonderful family dog but will not be suitable for children under 10 years of age. She will need good fencing with no small gaps. NO Rural fencing will be considered.

As Prue is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she will need to be returned to a local vet for desexing when she is approximately 5 months old. Please NO out of area applications.

For more information please contact Brooke on brookerescuepups28@gmail.com

Prudence is currently in foster care at Glendale NSW (suburb of Newcastle NSW). To apply to adopt me, please complete the application here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

Her adoption fee is $600 and includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she has been treated for fleas and worms.

Nymeria

Nymeria

Nymeria (a game of thrones name – sounds like “Nigeria” but with an M) is a gorgeous 4yr old Kelpie X Wolfhound. This gorgeous girl is a very loyal companion. She loves a tickle and always wants to be up on the sofa having a cuddle! She likes laying in the sun and in our home has a favourite spot where she can look out the window at the world. She is most happiest when she is near her humans when they are home, but she is very relaxed when they are out at work and spends the day snoozing.

Nymeria is fully house trained and has no interest in escaping the yard. She loves spending her days lazing around the house but enjoys a long walk once a day. She sleeps perfectly at night (indoors) and has only barked once or twice possibly when she has heard something outside. She barks once when she wants to come inside the house but doesn’t react when other neighbourhood dogs bark.

She is a large dog and is lead reactive to other dogs, so she needs someone committed to her ongoing training and guidance. She has met with a friends dogs several times and is getting used to being around them, heightened and excited for the first few minutes but then settling in. She is quite good on the lead, but she does pull a little and being a big dog you will need to have a certain level of strength. She can jump with excitement when meeting new people but will quickly calm down if you remind her! And it’s only to say hi!

She has to be picked up to put her in the bath and she stands very still, she’s not a fan of the hose or sprinkler though. She loves playing with humans but isn’t very interested in toys or balls. She was unsure of a neighbour’s cat at first and there was barking and running around wanting to play, but she has got used to him now and they even snooze together in the sunshine so we have seen great progress there.

She is great with kids- currently living with a one year old and three year old and loves them, greeting them with kisses and enjoys going for walks to pick them up from daycare and likes to say hi to the other kids through the fence! She is just not always aware of her size and although doesn’t jump up at the kids she can get excited and quickly run past them without being aware. Although she loves the kids, when they are around she seems more anxious to get the adults attention and will often try and get in between mum and child when putting shoes on etc and wants to be number 1. She does seem more relaxed when the kids aren’t around, but they are very young so perhaps she would be better suited to slightly older kids, although there really aren’t any major concerns.

If your looking for a loyal companion and a big softie, then this lovely girl will fit in with your family perfectly. To find out more about this pawfect pooch please contact Kimberly on kimberleybranch@hotmail.co.uk
To register your interest in adopting Nymeria, you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

Nymeria is located in Anna Bay (North of Newcastle NSW) and her adoption fee is $300 which includes desexing, up to date vaccinations, worming and flea treatments as well as microchipping.

Maisey

Maisey is a brown and white 5mth old female Bull Arab x Mastiff and this gorgeous girl is going to make someone a very loyal companion. She is always keen for attention and gives loads of puppy kisses. She has learnt to sit and is getting used to walking on the lead.

Maisey is very adventurous and will try to steal your shoes while putting them on. She is going to be a very large dog so she needs someone committed to her ongoing training and guidance. She is wary when meeting new people but once she gets a pat you have won her over.

Skippy & Rocky

Meet Rocky and Skippy the 8 year old Male Jack Russell’s with the waggling tails. These happy boys are looking for their forever homes due to no fault of their own. Having always been together it would be lovely to be rehomed together too however consideration will be given to separate for the ideal home.

Both Rocky and Skippy have spent their life outside so would love a home with a daily walking buddy, a gardening companion or someone looking for an adorable coffee date while they sit on your lap in the sunshine.

Rocky is the cuddly lap dog of the pair while Skippy gets great joy from fetching a ball for you and bringing it back. Going for a walk is a daily highlight as they love to get pats from all the neighbours on the way but most importantly have a good sniff, so a slow stroll is fine by them sometimes too.

At night they sleep quietly in their crate outside but it would be lovely if their crate was allowed inside, especially on those colder nights. If looking for an inside dog you may need lots of patience as Rocky and Skippy are not currently toilet trained so a cuddle on the couch is the closest we have had in our foster home so far.

We would suggest a home with Children over 6 as they do jump with excitement to see you as well as some not so polite gestures which we hope may settle slightly after desexing but someone who loves them regardless would be their best home.

Rocky and Skippy are currently living in care at Salamander Bay with 2 young children and an older large breed dog and have been comfortable in their company. Unfortunately they are untested with cats or pocket pets at this stage.

Rocky and Skippy will be available for adoption after the 26th of April when vet work is complete.

To adopt this gorgeous pair, please fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
Alternatively, if you have any other questions regarding these two handsome lads, then please contact their foster carer Haidee on hgrescue@outlook.com

Rocky and Skippy’s adoption fee is $450 EACH. Please contact Haidee if you wish to discuss adoption as a bonded pair. This includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping , she has also been treated for worms, fleas and ticks.

Evie

About Evie ~ Staffy X Puppy

Would you like to be the happy ending to a puppies story? Once upon a time there were 10 puppies. At about 2 weeks old these puppies came into DRN after their mum ran out of milk to feed them.

At DRN they found 3 fairy foster mums who spent lots of time bottle feeding, loving and caring for them. Even those these fairy foster mums did everything they could, 3 of these babies grew early wings and left in their first week of care.

The other 7 babies battled on. Having very low immune systems they fought off stomach, skin & bone infections & with the dedication of their fairy foster mums & DRN vets are now ready for adoption.

They are strong & playful pups but are very precious to their fairy foster parents so will need homes where their new families understand that diet & environment are essential to their future health & wellbeing

Evie is a 10 week old staffy x pup who is now available for adoption. She gets on well with other dogs and is use to both inside and outside environments in which to run and play in so will need access to both. As she has been closely hand raised in a home environment, she may need someone home more often than not.

Evie loves human company, She will quite happily snuggle up on your lap, but she also loves her outside environment so please no appartment or courtyard applications as she will be a medium to large dog so will need plenty of space.

We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All puppies will need plenty of affection, exercise, and training to ensure proper boundaries and routines are established. This will ensure that you get the best family member/friend possible.

Evie will be needing another medium sized doggy friend as a teacher, companion and playmate to go home with. Because of her difficult beginning we will be looking for companions dogs that are not loud, bossy or overly boisterous but more quiet and gentle in nature. She is currently living with other foster dogs and puppies so she is use to having friends to play with.

Evie needs to be welcomed inside when people are home, and to also sleep inside at night. She will be a wonderful family dog but will not be suitable for children under 12 years of age. Good sturdy fencing is a must, rural fencing will not be considered.

As Evie is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she will need to be returned to a local vet for desexing when she is approximately 5 months old. Please NO out of area applications.

For more information please contact Brooke on brookerescuepups28@gmail.com

Hooch

Hooch

Hooch is a male Boxer X Mastiff mix who is around 9 weeks old. This boy has a lovely placid nature and loves the company of both dogs and people of all ages. He currently lives with 7 other puppies, a very energetic 1year old medium size dog who he adores and an older medium size dog who is teaching him manners. He’ll quite often take himself away from the action for some quiet time.

There are also kids in her current foster home and he behaves very well with them (apart from pinching toys to get their attention). In his perfect home he will need to have another dog who is patient as well as someone who has the time to train him and give him lots of snuggles. He would also suit a family who are home for often than not as an only dog. He’s going to be medium to large size boy so it is very important that her forever family are going to accommodate this in their home and lives.

Hooch is a very clever boy and is learning easily to sit, wait & toilet in the appropriate places so ongoing dedication to keep up with this training is essential as smart dogs like her can tend to become naughty without the correct training and stimulation. Hooch needs to be welcomed inside when people are home, and to also sleep inside at night. He will be a wonderful family dog but will not be suitable for children under 5 years of age. Good sturdy fencing is a must..

As Hooch is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to a local vet for desexing when he is approximately 5 months old. Please NO out of area applications.

For more information please contact Beth on beths-foster-pups@outlook.com
Hooch is currently in foster care at Awaba NSW (suburb of Lake Macquarie NSW). To apply to adopt Hooch, please complete the application here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

Harlow

Harlow

Meet Harlow, a 1yr old female Mastiff X. Harlow is a super good doggo and is looking for a new family of her very own. Harlow is an active girl but also appreciates that she needs her beauty sleep so naps are a favourite for me. Like the love heart on her ear, she has plenty of love to give and really enjoys a cuddle. She’s currently lives with a 7yr old child and a 7yr old staffy who she gets along with really well. She would love a doggo companion in her new home who will play with her and keep her company. In my foster home there is a 7yr old staffy who has taught her the ways of the house hold. How to go in and out of the dog door when she needs to use the bathroom. She has also taught her when its bedtime and when to settle down for the night. They’ve been sharing from a dry kibble bowl and we can eat our food next to each other without any issue.

She would be suited to a family with children over the age of 7yrs old who would like playing tug of war with me and my rope toys. I’m chasing an active outdoorsy family who will have fun playing with me and don’t mind if I accidentally get too excited. Being young still my long legs sometimes trip me up. I like to be inside during the night and don’t mind a cuddle on the lounge but am also happy to lie on a bed next to the lounge. I do like being outside during the day, soaking up the sun and playing with a ball or my rope toys.

Her foster home also has a pool and she’s been paying fetch and swimming laps. She does this for half hour each day to get my exercise. This also heaps wear her out so I sleep through the night without wandering.

She’s not the best at walking on a lead as she just wants to eat it and run around. She’s been training with her foster carer and I am better walking alone then with other people as I just want to constantly be watching what they are doing or racing to be beside everyone. My new family does need to understand she’s still a puppy and need more guidance on being the best doggo out and about. A family with experience and a commitment to her ongoing training would be most preferable.

If you’re an active family looking for an amazing active and happy girl to join your family, you can contact my super amazing foster carer Alora on chris.alora0703@gmail.com

Harlow is located in Dora Creek NSW (south of Newcastle NSW). To adopt me please fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

Harlow’s adoption fee is $400. This includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping , she has also been treated for worms, fleas and ticks.

Honey

Honey

Introducing Honey 🐾a 2 year old Great dane x. This sweet, gorgeous goof ball of a lady is looking for her forever home. She is looking for an active family with older kids to help with her expel some serious big puppy energy. Honey is not dog social at this time but some positive reinforcement training will help her.

Honey is understandably excited to go on walks, this coupled with her size makes her very strong on lead. Large breed experience is essential, absolutely no first timers. Honey must be included as part of the family to continue learning boundaries, critical for a 50kg girl. Honey is making progress but still wants to jump up on you when very excited.

Somebody committed to extensive training, no other dogs, cats or pocket pets. An active home that can stimulate her physically and mentally. Honey loves to play tug of war, play ball and chasey! She also loves human interaction and would love nothing more than to be close to you, especially in bed – if you’ll let her! Telling honey to get out of the kitchen turns her into the happy character from happy feet. Honey is a beautiful girl with a beautiful temperament who wants nothing more than to make you her world.

‼️Must haves ‼️

* No other animals
* Big breed experience
* Commitment to physical and mental enrichment
* Older children that don’t mind being bowled over

Special Requirements: Honey has had very little training, but is very smart. She needs someone to put in the time to train her using positive reinforcement.

To find out more about our gorgeous Honey please email Kelly on Adoptmefromkelly@hotmail.com. Honey is located in the Newcastle NSW Area. You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

Frazer

Frazer

Frazer is a little tsunami in the body of an 8 year old Basenji x Chihuahua. He’s got a cute as a button face but don’t judge a book by its cover as this little gem is as rough as they come!

We’ll cut to the chase here and say that Frazer can be a little like Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde – once he knows you and your home he will be as sweet as sugar however he can struggle with certain situations one of the primary ones being getting out of cars. Frazer loves getting in the car, enjoys driving around – but turns into Cujo if you try to get him out of the car. Frazer has had some trauma related to getting out of the car and will become quite frenzied when asked to leave the car (no matter what treats and kindness are used!). He currently travels in the car within a dog crate so that he can be removed safely contained at the end of a drive – he requires someone with patience and compassion to work on this trigger of his.

Frazer needs boundaries and consistency – he also needs a very specific home with someone who is empathetic with him and his history and won’t judge him for being quite a handful at times. He will howl or cry if left alone so requires a home where there is someone home a fair amount.

He needs a furever home with a couple (40 – 60 years, no children), a home where he can have his own safe place in the house or yard if visitors come over and he feels anxious. He is getting so much better at meeting new people however a busy house is not great for Frazer as it revs him up. He needs a yard to run around in and solid fencing that he can’t see through (as he loves to bark) .

To complicate things a little more dear little Frazer doesn’t like other dogs much (he has not had much socialisation prior to coming into foster care) so he enjoys barking at them (a lot!). His new humans will need to be experienced enough to work on his dog and car reactivity, and should only use positive and reward-based training techniques with him. If people are gruff or forceful with him he will stand his ground and show his absolute displeasure! He loves treats so the key to this little guys affection is high-value food rewards.

Frazer is a special boy who has had a tough trot in life , but with the right human he has shown us that he has the potential to be a great and loving little dog.

If you are very experienced with the not-so easy dogs then please email Jo on rescuepooch75@gmail.com . Frazer is located in Medowie (North of Newcastle). You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

Frazer’s adoption fee is $350. This includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping , he has also been treated for worms, fleas and ticks.

Emma

Emma

Meet the perfect Emma. Emma is a 3.5yr old Bull Arab X who is super loyal, loves her humans and has a beautiful loving nature. She is now searching for her furever home and is super excited to meet her pawfect family.

Emma is a super sweet and loving girl. She loves to get out and about and enjoy walks and outings with her foster family. Emma does need some training on walking and how to be the best doggo out and about so a family with experience with this would be most preferred. She is a strong dog, so does require a strong active person to help her in her journey to perfection.

Whilst Emma just loves being around people, she can be left at home alone with a good bone and some treats and toys to keep her amused till she greets you excitedly when you come home. At home Emma obeys basic commands such as sit ,stay and come and settles down after her initial excitement of coming inside. Shes a super smart poochie with so much love to give.

Emma does not appear to have been socialised with other dogs and has strong reactions when passing or nearing other dogs particularly small ones. Her forever home adopters would need to commit to training and socialisation strategies to be able to walk in areas where other dogs are present. Once again, a home with previous experience and very strong commitment to training will be highly desireable.

Emma is best suited to an active family as an only dog. Being an exciteable girl, Emma does not suit homes with small children so children aged 10 and above would be best suited. This will also allow them to be involved in her training and learning. Its very important that her new family are active and understanding of Emmas needs and will not pressure her into new and unfamiliar experiences too soon. She will require some training and work with her new humans to ensure she is bonded and listening like the good girl she is.

Emma will require a secure large fenced yard to be at her happiest. She will require 6ft colourbond fencing with no holes or gaps. Rural or mesh fencing will not be suitable. Emma has not been tested with pocket pets, livestock or chickens/birds.

Emma is a stunning girl looking for her forever home. If you love someone who will cuddle all day and be your best friend, then Emma is your girl! If you think Emma is your perfect match, you can contact David on k9cd@yahoo.com for any questions or enquiries.
Emma is located in Corlette NSW (north of Newcastle NSW)

To apply to adopt Emma, fill out the adoption form here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
Once submitted, please allow 48-72hrs for a response from our dedicated carers.

Emma’s adoption fee is $300, she is microchipped, desexed, and vaccinated, and she is up to date with all worming and flea treatment.

Max

Max

Calling out to the Kelpie lovers………This strikingly handsome boy is Max, a 1.5yo Kelpie in search of the perfect home; one that is familiar, experienced and willing to take on all that comes with a working breed.

Max is a very clever boy, who is very quick at learning and eager to please, but still needs some guidance and reassurance. He has a fair amount of energy, so regular exercise, play time and mental stimulation are needed, because he is a typical working breed. Dog Rescue Newcastle did bust him out from a rural pound and given some of the traits he shows, it is possible that Max was to be used as a working dog on a farm. He came in a little scared and timid, with little trust in humans and has come a long way since but will still need a confident and reassuring person to build that trust and continue to let him shine.

Max does like dogs and is currently living with an older male dog, whom he adores, but his working breed instincts are quite strong and when they are out and about walking, Max decides that it is his given right to protect the other dog and he becomes quite unsociable and fixated.

Max walks well on a lead and has been learning proper leash manners, which helps with his social behaviour. He is highly food motivated, which helps with his training. He is a typical high energy kelpie and as mentioned will need physical and mental exercise but is also happy to be a lounge lizard once he has had his exercise. He absolutely loves people and will greet all humans of all ages and sizes with a big smile and wriggly bottom. He has been around toddlers without any dramas.

Max is full of character and will bring you joy as you watch him. He will entertain himself with his toys but does love to play tug-o-war with you. He hasn’t been destructive but, Max is an intelligent, high drive dog, so if he gets ignored and bored too often, there is a good chance he will.

For more information on Max please contact Olivia on horvat13@gmail.com or you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://form.jotform.co/82217742684866
Max is currently living in the Newcastle Area NSW.

Max’s adoption fee is $500 and includes desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and microchipping. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Willow

Meet Willow, a female, 10 week old Kelpie x Cattle dog with enough energy to compete with the energiser bunny!

Willow is an independent little fluff ball, that requires a family to look further past her cute puppy stage and plan for the teenager and adult stage.

She will grow up to be a medium size and will need to attend puppy training classes and continued obedience training due to her size and breed.

Willow is at the puppy stage where she is biting a lot and chewing things so she needs consistency in her training. She is looking for a family that understands she will need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation or she will get bored.

She won’t be a tiny puppy for long and will get up to mischief as she becomes a teenager. She will also need extra puppy meals throughout the day?

Willow will also require a home with solid and tall fencing (5-6 foot) to keep her safe? No rural or wire fences as she has springs in her legs. She won’t suit an apartment , courtyards or a small yard and will need need a medium to large yard to play and rumble in!

As Willow is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens areas as I will need to be returned to the vet for desexing when she is approximately 5 months old. She is not available for long distance or interstate adoption.

If you’re interested in adopting this absolutely sensational little pupper, you can fill out the adoption questionnaire at https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt or for more information not covered in the listing, please contact Kelly at adoptmefromkelly@hotmail.com

Willow is currently living in Glendale and her adoption fee is $600 which covers desexing, vaccination, microchipping, flea and worming treatments. You can see all available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Lucy

Meet the most adorable little girl, Lucy! This gorgeous loving and gentle girl is a 2yr old Kelpie X Jack Russel. This pint sized ball of cute adores a snuggle and loves to play fetch in the yard.

Lucy has some gorgeous quirks, one is the most hilarious noise she makes while chasing her favourite toys. She loves her food and isn’t fussy at all. She’s exceptionally playful and has shown to be obedient when called.

Lucy would suit an active family who will continue to further her education and ensure her tricks and skills are enhanced. She has shown to be a little worried when you leave, so a home with experience in encouraging Lucy to be confident when alone will be most favourable. She can sometimes be a little overwhelmed when meeting new people, and will always let you know when someone is at the door. Again, a home with the knowledge to encourage positive reaction would be the best fit for miss Lucy. She travels well in the car but will require further guidance when out and about on the lead. She is exceptionally dog and child friendly however due to her age, she will not be rehomed to a family with children under the age of 10years old.

Lucy will require an active family who will continue to involve her in their daily lives. She will not suit a backyard only home and must be allowed inside to bond and be with her family for those important times. Kelpie’s are a very loyal breed and love to bond and mesh with their families. This girl loves attention and adoration, so we must find her the perfect home where all of these elements come together. Lucy is fully house-trained and will make the perfect companion.

For more information on Lucy or to enquire, please contact Nicole on nsharkey73@hotmail.com

Emma & Charlie (Bonded Pair)

Meet the two unlikely best friends Emma and Charlie. This beautiful bonded pair are everything you need to complete your fur-baby family. Having lived together for most of their lives, they love each other to pieces and will need to be rehomed together.

Emma and Charlie love to play together, spoon each other during naptime and give each other lots of kisses. Yes, it is as cute as it sounds! They never fight, always share their food and take lots of comfort in each other’s company. They have shown their foster mums they are not destructive when left inside for short periods of time and they are both house trained, although Charlie may have some accidents for the first few week in a new home while he is settling in and feeling a little anxious. They will happily spend time outside and are not prone to jumping/ escaping, but would like to be welcomed inside (especially of a night time). Both dogs are quite fussy with their meal choice, tending to prefer certain brands of wet food mixed with some dry.

Emma is a 2 Y.O Staffy X who loves nothing more than to greet you with a big smile and sloppy kisses at the door. Emma is a gentle soul who will give you cuddles on the couch but is also happy to take herself off to her own bed with her favourite chew toy. Emma is playful and has short active periods throughout the day. She loves to play fetch, run around in the backyard and chew on her chew toys. Emma also loves the water and would love to be able to swim at the beach or lakes. Emma knows basic commands and can sit, stay, come and lay down. She walks well on the lead but can be overexcited at times. Emma needs regular walks to prevent boredom and will often sleep for long periods of the day if exercised regularly.

Charlie is a 2 Y.O Chihuahua X. A typical lap dog, Charlie loves nothing more than curling up next to you for endless pats and cuddles. Charlie takes his time to get to know new people. Once you have gained his trust he will show you unconditional love. Also typical of his breed, Charlie can be protective of his home and his humans and may bark at unfamiliar faces and dogs. When going on walks, they can both be reactive to other dogs, so it is best to give them a wide berth and encourage them to keep walking.

Emma can be strong on the lead, but we have found that walking them separately can be helpful, being walked together seems to turn into a competition of who goes first, but separately they both walk more calmly with less pulling. Emma & Charlie aren’t the kind of dogs to be let off lead for social interaction with other dogs. They tend to prefer the company of humans and each other. Any interactions with new dogs would need to be very slow and in a controlled environment. Emma & Charlie would benefit from a new family who will set boundaries for them, with a relatively structured routine.

They are both in good health, don’t require much grooming and are quite low- medium energy and maintenance. Both Charlie and Emma need a home where they will be the only dogs. They would love nothing more than to become part of the family and would be best suited to a home without small children, cats or other small animals. Having access to a doggy door would be ideal for them, and being allowed inside of night time to sleep.

Charlie and Emma are located in Carrington NSW (Suburb of Newcastle NSW) Their adoption fee is $1050 which includes desexing, microchipping and vaccinations. They are each up to date on all worming and flea treatments. To enquire about this dynamic duo, email Amanda on c3253591@uon.edu.au

Magic Mike

The gorgeous Magic Mike is a male, 11 week old Siberian Husky X Bull Arab puppy. He’s a big teddy bear with my brown fluffy coat and dark button eyes. He’s the biggest of his siblings and is a little more cruisey – not by much though as he’s a half-husky after all (and we all know huskies aren’t exactly idle!) He’s a huge puppy so likely to be a very big boy when all grown up !!!

He is intelligent, active and adventurous and would LOVE a friendly, energetic, medium sized female dog to play with in his new home – your existing dog should be out of puppy stage so that she can be a role model for Mike and his development. Not too old though as senior dogs will find his puppy playfulness way too much! No chickens or pocket pets please as huskies are known for their high prey drive.

Magic Mike will be best suited to a home with a couple who adore arctic breed dogs and have lots of canine experience. He wouldn’t be suited to a home with young kids as you will be too busy trying to catch up with him. A home with teenagers older than 16+ years who are confident with arctics and active dogs would be OK though.

If you are experienced with arctics and you’re keen for an active adventurer like Magic Mike, email Jo on rescuepooch75@gmail.com . I’m located near Maitland (west of Newcastle). You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

As I am not yet desexed, I am only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens areas as I must visit our rescue vet for desexing when I am approximately 5 months old. Exceptional Sydney based adoptions will only be considered upon approval. He is not available for long distance or interstate adoption.

His adoption fee is $600 which covers my desexing, vaccination, microchipping, flea and worming treatments. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Buddy

Buddy is a 7yr old Labrador Retriever X. He has the most beautiful temperament. One of the best we have ever seen in a dog.

Buddy will be loyal, loving and give back two fold. Buddy just wants your company. He would best suit a young active family with kids who want to play with him and show him plenty of love and cuddles. He is not bothered at all by a little bit of rough play. He loves walks on the beach and tagging along on bike rides.

Buddy spent most of his life on a chain in a business yard. He was known to escape in the past, but we feel since having him that this was just to find company and pats. He will need to be kept on a strong secure lead at all times when outside the house yard, possibly until he feels safe and secure at his new home. He dislikes storms and prefers to be inside when they roll in. He may have a little cry when you leave him to go out but we have found this is happening less and less once he knows you will come back.

Buddy has learnt to SIT and WAIT for his food, he is very obedient and learns fast. He also shakes hands! Buddy is great with other dogs and shows absolutely no aggression towards them. Bud loves to sleep inside so he knows he is part of the family, but also is okay outside. Preferably somewhere he can see inside and listen for his human family. He will come with his own newly purchased bed which he loves and is quite happy sleeping in. This beautiful boy will thrive in a family who treats him like another human of the household. He just wants to be with you wherever you go, whenever possible.

Buddy is quite strong on the lead so until he is trusted to not run off, he will need a adult to walk him on the leash. When we tell people about Buddy, he sounds too good to be true but HE IS the best dog ever.

For more information on Buddy please contact Stacey on stacey.green1@bigpond.com.

Buddy is located in Redhead and is ready and eager to meet his new forever family.

Buddy’s adoption fee is $400 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and microchipping. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Bob

Meet the handsome Bob. He’s a 5 year old pure bred beagle who is full of love to give.

Bob is the perfect companion who is happiest to be snuggled up and spending time with you. Bob is your typical beagle and sniffs his way through life, being very scent driven. Bob knows his basic commands but will take the opportunity to go outside and follow scents if doors are left open.

Due to his breed he will need to be in an active home where he will regularly be walked and stimulated. Bob gets on well with other dogs and currently lives with a female Kelpie. Bob has always lived with other dogs so for this reason it would be preferred he went to a home that has other dog friends for him to play with.

Bob is looking for a home where he will be allowed indoors most of the time, although he does okay outside if you need to leave for short periods. As he can be a bit of an escape artist, secure fencing is required (at least 6 feet). Bob is looking to go to a home where he will be treated as family as he would love nothing more than to be cuddled up next to you.

Bob is currently not yet desexed but has shown no signs of any aggression towards male dogs, food aggression, etc. Bob is generally a very happy boy who will be nothing but loving to you.

If you are interested in adopting the handsome Bob, please contact Morgan at morganz.drn@gmail.com for more information.

Bob’s adoption fee is $500 which includes desexing, microchipping and vaccinations. As Bob is currently not desexed, he will only be available for adoption to the immediate surrounding region. Out of area adoptions are not available at this time.

Barley

Meet Barley! This stunner is a 4 year old male Mastiff cross. He is a big sook who absolutely loves any kind of affection and cuddles.

Barley is great with dogs of any size, he’s a friendly giant. He would love another dog friend to keep him company, but he would probably also be more than happy to have all his owner’s attention to himself.
He has had basic training, but we are looking for a home with dedicated owners to give him ongoing training, especially with learning how to walk nicely on lead. Barley is fully toilet trained and he knows not to jump.

Barley has shown to be an escape artist, so his perfect forever home should either have secure and high fencing or someone home most of the time so he can be supervised when outside.

Barley is looking for a home where he is allowed to sleep inside and is treated as part of the family. He also won’t mind human siblings, as he is great with kids! He currently lives with young children and he is very placid around them. He has also shown to be great around cats and pocket pets, nothing really seems to bother him!

Barley is looking for a home with someone home most of the time, where he is taken for daily outings and taken along for adventures.

Karla

This gorgeous girl is a 1yr old female German Shepherd. She is a beautiful girl that has all the traits of this breed, loyal, protective, energetic and fun loving.

Dog Rescue Newcastle are assisting Karla’s owners to find her the perfect forever home that she deserves. Please read Karla’s story and apply if you think you can provide her a home she deserves.

This is Karla’s human mum Deborah, I lost my husband to brain cancer in 2018 and needed a loving companion to help me heal. I first saw these puppies advertised on the web for sale and it was a local breeder so I contacted them and they only had three puppies unsold out of a litter of nine. I organised a meet and greet at there home and had actually chosen a different puppy of their web photo’s, but, when I arrived that puppy ignored me and Karla (birth named Dippy) came to me and sat on my lap with no hesitation or encouragement. I then knew she had chosen me to be her human mum.

Karla never cried at night being alone on my back deck and I slept with her on the back deck on new years eve so she would not be frightened of the fireworks and celebration around our neighbourhood. I have also been outside with her on stormy nights to assure her that lighting and thunder are nothing to be afraid off. Karla has a soft and gentle soul and very energetic. Karla can fetch and return, say hello by shaking hands/paws/both paws and will sit on command when waiting for you to place her dinner down.

Karla loves the beach and still a little weary of waves but will get in if you are in. Karla hasn’t had a lot of socialising with small children but I am sure with the right guidance she will be fine due to her gentle nature. I love her very much and am sad to have to part with her but I am no longer able to keep her and I know that the perfect home will be found for her with the help of this amazing team that has come to her rescue.

Karla needs a home with someone who is experienced with this breed and is able to exercise her daily, and preferably with a fun loving, playful furry sibling. Karla would not be suited to a family with young children due her size and boisterous nature, so homes with children under the age of 12 will not be considered. She is not an escapist but would need suitable fencing for a large dog, colourbond 5-6ft with no holes or gaps. Karla sleeps outside in her kennel and this can be given to her new owners.

This absolutely heart warming girl is on the hunt for her new home and really cant wait to meet you! If you’re interested to know more about Karla, please contact Wendy at wendygermon@yahoo.com.au

Xander

Xander is a sweet natured 13 week old male Lab X Rotti. He enjoys playing with soft toys and balls and is always found playing with one either on his own or with one of the other dogs.

Xander also enjoys searching the yard for treats, puzzling how to get treats out of a variety of homemade enrichment toys and chewing on raw chicken wings and big raw bones. Xander has been socializing with other dogs and children who are respectful of animals. As with all puppies he will need someone patient to teach him manners and how to walk on a lead. As Xander gets older he will need to be walked on a regular basis.

All applicants need to keep in mind that Xander has typical puppy behaviour and is going to grow into a very large energetic dog. During the night Xander is sleeping in a crate in the bedroom. He has crate trained very quickly and now settles in the crate within minutes. When Xander first sees you or other household pets he is very excited. With gentle guidance he settles and has learnt how to sit when asked.

Xander is in foster care in Maryland, NSW (Lake Macquarie) and is available for local adoption only. For more information or to meet Kaiya, please submit an online application and contact Jaime by email jaihol@bigpond.com.

Xander’s adoption fee is $600 which includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping. As Xander is not yet desexed, he will not be available to out of area adoption as he will need to be returned to one of our approved vets at 5months old for desexing.
