Meet Spice
This week’s cat of the week is Spice.
Spice is about 4 & a half years old. She is a black & white cat. Her back is mostly black, with a super cute white patch on it. Her chest, tummy, legs & paws are all white.
Spice is true to her name. She has a bit of flavour, but she is much more of a gentle, comforting warmth than a fiery kitty. Her superpower is her massive heart. She loves other cats, & she has become the ultimate surrogate mum to many of the feline friends in her foster home, offering them comfort, grooming, and companionship. She gets along well with Dylan in particular who is also available for adoption and while he is not her son, they have a very loving and cuddly relationship.
When it comes to humans, she is currently “in training!” Spice is a resilient survivor who spent a few years in a local shelter before moving into foster care about five months ago. This transition to a home environment has been slow going slow & she is still learning to fully trust human hands,. She is more than happy to hang out in the same room as you, supervise your daily activities, and keep you company from a comfortable distance. She is still figuring out the whole “being touched” thing and prefers to keep her personal space for now, but she is making brave progress.
Her preferred home would be with the right person who understands that love doesn’t always mean cuddles right away and a quiet environment. She would need to be adopted into a home with another cat to keep her company. If you have a lonely kitty who needs a best friend or a gentle maternal figure, she is your girl. She isn’t friendly with kids, and she hasn’t been tested with dogs yet.
Spice’s adoption fee is $200 and like all other animals at Hunter Animal Rescue, this includes desexing, microchip and up to date vaccinations.

Meet Bat Boy
Just like his name, Bat Boy resembles Batman. His coat is short; he has a white chest and a black back, with white socks. His unique “bat” feature is on his face, which is mostly black, except for a white moustache-like marking which makes him appear as if he’s wearing a Batman mask.
Bat Boy is just 2 years old. He loves his humans and loves human interaction. He loves exploring new places and when he is done, he enjoys hanging out with his humans. Bat Boy loves to eat, and he is fussy on food. He is a sweet boy who is very affectionate with a, relaxed, chilled out nature.
Bat Boy would fit into most households. He loves everyone, so he would be fine with kids. He is good with other cats and dogs, and he would be fine as an only pet.
You can find Bat Boy at Rutherford. His adoption fee is $200 and, like all other animals at Hunter Animal Rescue, this includes desexing, microchip and up to date vaccinations. Bat Boy Now At Rutherford Pet Quarters | Hunter Animal Rescue
Meet Java & Neko
Java and Neko are two adorable 6 year old bull arabs who are bonded besties and on the lookout for a new home. They’re affectionate, entertaining and a whole lot of fun!
Java is a little smaller than her brother, but definitely has the most energy of the two. She sits perfectly for food, adjusts to routine well and will roll over at any chance for some tubby rubs!
Neko is the larger of the two, but he’s definitely the gentle giant. Neko, like his sister, is food motivated and also listens really well to instructions. Neko loves a cuddle on the couch, a nap in the sunshine or to play a bit of fetch in the yard.
Java and Neko are looking for a home together where they can be the centre of attention. They’re used to living on farmland with large livestock and have adequate recall. Java and Neko also travel really well in the car and are 100% toilet trained.
Apply today if you’re ready for two gentle giants to join your family! They are in foster care in Kempsey, NSW, and are available for adoption interstate. The adoption fee is $300, and they are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, ticks and worms. Find out more, here: Adopt Java from Kempsey NSW | Adopt-A-Dog

Meet Dylan
Dylan is a 5-month-old, white kitten. He has an all-over white coat and the cutiest little face! Dylan is the full package. He is a professional zoomie athlete, expert toy chaser, certified purr machine, he gets along with just about everyone and best of all he is looking for a best friend (preferably his brother, Drew!)
Dylan has all of the classic kitten qualities: playful, curious, affectionate, and always ready for his next adventure. Because he still young, he is pretty adaptable and could fit into most loving homes. He is looking for his forever home with people who will give him plenty of attention, keep him safe, and make him part of the family.
He would love to be adopted with his brother Drew, they have been together since birth and are the very best of mates. Spending their days playing, wrestling, napping, and getting into kitten mischief together. If they can’t stay together, Dylan would still need another friendly feline companion to help keep him entertained and teach him all the important cat things.
If you’re looking for a fun-loving kitten who will fill your home with laughter, purrs, and the occasional burst of chaos, Dylan might just be your perfect match. Dylan’s adoption fee is $250 & like all other animals, this includes Microchip, Desexing & up to date vaccinations.

Meet Toots
Toots is a 1-year-old grey, black and white tortoise shell cat with hints of ginger throughout, and the cutest little face.
Toots is a very easy-going girl. She is affectionate, confident, and loves her food. She will eat her own food, and any wet food that is left behind. She is also happy to graze on her dry food throughout the day. She enjoys the simple things in life like a comfortable bed and cuddles.
Toots will be suitable for most households. She hasn’t met any kids that we are aware of, but judging by her personality, we think that she would be perfectly fine. Toots gets along with her foster siblings, and she doesn’t mind the resident dog that lives at her foster home, as he leaves her alone. She would be happy as an only pet.
If she moves into a home with other animals, she may hiss at first, but that should only be until she settles in and feels welcome, then you will see the kind and caring kitten that she is.
Toots’s adoption fee is $200 and like all other animals at Hunter Animal Rescue, this includes desexing, microchip and up to date vaccinations.
Toots loves attention. She is currently at Thornton. Pop in, say hi and give her a cuddle. Toots Now at Thornton Pet Quarters | Hunter Animal Rescue
Meet Teddy – Mixed Breed
Teddy is a sweet and affectionate 8-month-old boy. He is extremely social, and regularly attends doggie events and puppy pilates. He loves all dogs big and small.
Teddy currently lives with two large breed dogs and absolutely adores them. He plays gently with smaller dogs and will happily have a tumble with large dogs too. He absolutely adores his toys and loves to distribute them around the yard each day before going for a nap in his crate. Teddy loves his food and has learnt to sit, wait and drop. If you have a tasty treat he will happily shake your hand for it.
Teddy is expected to grow into a medium dog. As he hasn’t had the easiest start, he will benefit from continued socialisation as he matures. He enjoys being involved in daily life and has a very playful and curious nature. A home with a calm, friendly adult dog would be ideal. If there isn’t another dog in the home, Teddy would prefer a household where someone is home more often than not, as he does best with company.
Teddy should be welcomed indoors when people are home. He is happy to spend time outside during the day but is not suited to living outdoors full time. He sleeps well overnight in a large crate or on an indoor dog bed. He will make a lovely family dog and is best suited to homes with children aged 8 years and older. Secure fencing is essential, with no small gaps rural-style fencing such as mesh or wire is not suitable. Teddy is also very interested in chickens and cats, so a home without non-canine pets is important.
Teddy’s adoption fee is $600 which includes his desexing and his first two vaccinations. He has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped. Teddy is in foster care in Glendale, NSW. Adopt Teddy from Glendale NSW | Adopt-A-Dog

Meet Draco – 3 Year-Old Kelpie Cross
You might not realise how much joy a smart, energetic dog can bring into your life… until you meet Draco. Draco is a big-hearted, goofy-goober with plenty of quirks and personality. He loves to play, thrives on interaction, and has a sweet, slightly silly nature that’s guaranteed to keep you smiling. He is a true working breed with plenty of energy to burn.
Draco will do best in a home that can provide both mental and physical stimulation, along with ongoing training and enrichment. He will also need someone who is home more often than not, whilst growing his confidence in and around the home. Draco is a quick learner who already knows some basic commands, is toilet trained, and happily sleeps in his crate overnight. Right now, he’s actively working on going to his crate to settle in the day, and building the foundations for confident lead walking.
Draco can be a little shy when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly with gentle encouragement. He can sometimes be sensitive and likes to keep to his own space, but will let you know when he wants to be in yours.
Draco is currently on medication to help him overcome some separation anxiety and fears when outside of his space. In his forever home he will need people who show him patience, structure, and a consistent routine to help him to continue to grow in confidence. He will need ongoing training and positive reinforcement to be his fully-confident self.
Draco would be best as an only dog, as he loves to keep his toys and food to himself. He is untested with cats, and is not suitable for children under 12. With the right person or family, Draco is going to be an incredibly loyal, fun, and rewarding companion. Draco is in foster care in Blue Haven, NSW. His adoption fee is $600 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped. Adopt Draco from Blue Haven NSW | Adopt-A-Dog
Meet Mia
Mia is a short-haired, 1-year-old girl with a tortoiseshell and white coat. Her back has the tortoiseshell colouring, with her face, chest and feet all white. Mia’s most amazing feature is her permanently crossed eyes. It is adorable and just adds to her cuteness! The best part about it is, it does not hold her back in any way. She is able to accurately jump so her depth perception is fine.
Mia is a confident and lovely cat. She came into care in November last year already pregnant. While in care there was another mum with kittens, and that mum was not feeding her kittens well, so Mia took on feeding her kittens as well, such an amazing mum.
Mia is a lap cat, she is independent and loves attention when she is ready for it. She doesn’t necessarily hound you for attention, but when she gets some, she love it.
Mia would suit most households. She is child friendly, dog and cat friendly, she gets along great with her foster family’s labradore, and she would suit a home where she is the only pet.
If you would like to meet Mia, she is currently in Broadmeadow with one of her kittens, Poppet. They are both bound to melt your heart! Mia’s adoption fee is $200, and like all other animals at Hunter Animal Rescue, this includes desexing, microchip and up to date vaccinations. Mia – meet at PetQuarters Broadmeadow | Hunter Animal Rescue

Meet Sapphi
Sapphi is a short-haired black cat. She is 3 years old and ready to find her fur-ever home. Sapphi is a lap cat who loves all the affection you offer. She adores pats and wants nothing more than to snuggle in your lap. She has a medium level of activity and will need a scratcher or two around the home. When it’s time to settle down for the night, she would love a place on your bed to snuggle into and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.
Sapphi will thrive in most home environments as she’s an easy-going kitty. She is gentle and confident so would cope fine with children, gets on fine with other cats, but would also happily be a solo cat. She hasn’t met dogs but may be fine with a cat-friendly dog and a slow introduction.
Sapphi is a confident cat who will settle in quickly in a new home. She really is the whole package! If you would like more info on Sapphi, or you’d like to meet her, you can check out her profile on the Hunter Animal Rescue website.

Meet Ellie
Ellie is a goofy 1 Year old, Boxer x Staffy who loves snuggles and is always up for a play. Ellie loves nothing more than long walks, sunbathing in the garden and relaxing with a chew. By night, you will find her snuggling up next to her humans for a cosy night in. Whether you’re watching TV or reading a book, Ellie will be right by your side bringing warmth and comfort.
Ellies sleeps well throughout the night in her bed. However, if there is an offer of a human bed or sofa you will definitely find her keeping a spot warm. Ellie is food motivated and eager to please which makes training easier around the home. She is fully house trained. She will sit, lay down, wait and show her paw on command but loses focus when the outside world becomes too exciting for her to ignore.
Ellie would be ideally suited to a couple or single person with the ability to handle a strong dog and maintain training on a regular basis. She would also be suitable for homing with a family who already have a large, energetic dog. She is not suitable for homes with small dogs, cats or other small animals as she may be overwhelming for timid animals, although her training is intended to correct this behaviour. Best suited to kids over 12.
Ellie requires a minimum 30 minute morning walk to settle her into her daily routine. Once walked she is settled for the day with her enrichment toys and a large yard to run around in. Ellie will require 6ft fencing due to being inquisitive of her surroundings. She also has a low shedding coat.
Ellie’s adoption fee is $600. Ellie has been desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped. Ellie is in foster care in Corlette, NSW. Adopt Ellie from Corlette NSW | Adopt-A-Dog
