Quick work by firefighters has prevented a house fire from taking hold at Cardiff.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the brick and tile home on Murray Road just before 10.00am on Thursday to find smoke issuing from the building.

It was feared the residents were still inside.

Crews gained access and found food left on the stove had caught alight – they quickly doused the flames.

No-one was inside – it appears the residents left the house and forgot to turn off the stove.
