A former Hunter Catholic priest has been ordered to stand trial on sex abuse charges.
Vincent Ryan is accused of sexually assaulting three young boys during his time as the parish priest of St Joseph’s at The Junction and at Cessnock between 1973 and 1991.
It’s alleged the 79-year-old gave an altar boy aged 10 or 11 a full glass of wine before assaulting him.
Ryan is due to face Newcastle District Court on March 8 where a trial date will be fixed.
