Work will get under way early next month on a major spruce up of the Stockton Bridge.
The state government has provided 6-million dollars for the work which will strengthen the bridge so it can continue to carry heavy vehicles.
Scaffolding will go up on November 4 and a northbound detour will be in place until June next year for vehicles over 68 tonnes.
The 9 month project will support eight full time positions and provide work for about 50 contractors.
