There are calls for urgent blood tests for residents in the Williamtown contamination red zone following the release of the Human Health Risk Assessment.

The assessment failed to provide any comfort for residents, with fishing bans to remain in place, along with an advice to moderate the consumption of home-grown fruit, vegetables and poultry indefinitely while more testing takes place.

Federal Member for Paterson, Meryl Swanson says the federal government must act immediately.

“I’m calling for urgent blood tests from the government. People that are living now as we know in this contaminated zone that has been contaminated for a long time need to know how much contaminant they have in their system and the government promised blood tests and now that is a matter of urgency,” she said.
