The famous Nobby’s headland is about to become off limits to the community.

Fairfax reports people will no longer be able to access the lighthouse on Sundays following a dispute between council and Newcastle Now over funding.

The headland was initially reopened to the public in 2011 and has been managed by Newcastle Now since 2013.

However the business improvement organisation’s lease on the site has been terminated by the Port Authority of NSW because Newcastle Now couldn’t provide visitor services.
