On this edition of Hunter Rostrum, you can hear Michael Sternbeck’s documentary about Enrico Caruso (1873 – 1921) marking 70 years (now 102) since his death.

The Italian tenor sang to great acclaim at the major opera Houses of Europe and the Americas, and became internationally popular through his recordings, releasing 247 from 1902 to 1920.

Picture shows Michael holding a record of Caruso and Scotti singing a duet from Puccini’s Bohème.

In 1960, for his contribution to the recording industry, Caruso received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 1987, he was posthumously awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and the United States Postal Service issued a postage stamp in his honour.

Caruso was voted into Gramophone‘s Hall of Fame in 2012.
