A hardworking Maitland couple are preparing to take early retirement after their numbers came up in Monday’s Lotto draw.

The husband and wife, who wish to remain anonymous, found out they’d become instant millionaires after their daughter dropped in on Wednesday night to tell them ‘I think you’ve won the lottery’.

“She knows our numbers and saw them on the internet,” the woman Lotteries officials.

The husband has been playing the same numbers for 40 years – they’re based on birthdays, addresses and ages of family members.

The couple plan to throw in their jobs to travel around the country and spend more quality time with their grandchildren.
