following commitments made in the 2015 election, by then premier, Mike Baird.
Documents regarding the upgrades were recovered from the Berejiklian Government under freedom of information, finding the project has now been postponed until 2021; details that have not been announced to the public.
Port Stephens MP, Kate Washington says the project had been originally promised $70 million in government funding to propel its progression, yet currently lacks any.
“We want to know, who has instructed the Government to delay the duplication of the Nelson Bay Road,” Ms Washington says.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Scot MacDonald has hinted that funding may be introduced in the 2019 July budget.
This decision raises questions regarding who was notified and whether the commitment will be completed by the 2019 election.
Ms Washington has directed these questions towards Road’s Minister Melinda Pavey who will have to deliver a response to Parliament.
