The major work on this edition of Hunter Rostrum (10:30pm Sunday) is Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto, known as “The Emperor” played by soloist Geoffrey Tozer.

Geoffrey Tozer was a child prodigy who gave his first concerto performance in Melbourne at the age of 8, and at 14 made his London debut at the Albert Hall. He played a wide repertoire, and toured much of the world including Russia and South Africa.

This brilliant performance of Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto was recorded by 2NURFM at a concert in the Newcastle University Great Hall in l992.

The program includes the orchestra playing a work by Bruce Rowland.
