A small town in Singleton has been awarded as the best 'tiny town' in the state. 

A man who owns a property neighboring the Singleton army base has been charged with animal cruelty offences.

The state government, in partnership with the Cessnock and Singleton Councils, will hold a public memorial service next month to honour those who lost their lives in the Hunter Valley bus tragedy. 

The only other areas across the state which recorded more cases than the Hunter was western and south-western Sydney.

No local government area was spared in today's numbers, with each recording at least one case.

19 of the Hunter's active cases are being cared for in hospital, including one in intensive care.

It brings the regions total to 521 cases since August 5.

The new cases are from the Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Maitland, Cessnock, Muswellbrook and Glen Innes local government areas.
